I wasn’t sure if I’d slipped into it during my unconsciousness, but I felt happy we were here. This had become a place of refuge for us to shimmer in our emotions.

His hand gently brushed along my wet cheek, drawing my attention to him as he leaned down to whisper against my lips.

“I’m so fucking proud of you.”

This man knew how to make a girl cry her eyes out.

“I…I…”What do I even say to that?I really didn’t know what to say, so I just let myself say what came to my mind first. “He looks like us.”

That caught his attention as he pulled back just enough to stare into my watery eyes.

“He has our eyes. Mismatched…and blue hair with silver strands. So…protective.” I almost laughed but I choked on sobs, and he ended up joining me before kissing me long and hard.

“Thank you for allowing us to wait,” he praised. “For allowing me the privilege to love you the right way.”

We needed another moment to feel out our emotions before I had the confidence to face what was next for us.

“We’re in the Shadow Realm,” I noted.

“We are,” he assured me. “On purpose.”

“On purpose?” I looked at him as he helped me sit up, and I realized we were in some sort of bubble. The painted markings on my body were different from his — mine were of white paint while his were pure black.

“Well, we kind of had to make you bait.”

“You know, I’m not surprised by that, but at the same time, I feel like some negotiating had to be involved for you to go along with this.”

Especially when he knows I’m pregnant.

"Zed is desperate to kill you,” Asher stressed in seriousness. “To the point that he’s willing to come here to the very Shadow Realm to dispose of you.”

“He’s here already?” I pondered.

“Nyx said he is. He forced her to send him in here, but did it in a way where his body was teleported elsewhere.”

“Can we track it?'“

He grinned like he’d already won

“A certain Guardian is a really good tracker matched with a pair of identical brothers.”

“Oh, damn.” I didn’t expect that. “Wait. Do they know?”

“I’m not sure about Guardian,” he admitted. “But your brothers? I think they know.”

“What makes you think that?” I asked as I sat more comfortably. We were in a nice patch of grass the glimmered with flowers in darker shades.

He smirked and pulled out an unexpected sticky note.

A blue one at that.

“Of course.”I rolled my eyes and took the note to read it out loud. “Baby Blue is going to fuck shit up. Did they actually write this?!”

Now I was laughing far too hard.

“Boys. I’m doomed. They’re going to make him into a troublemaker! Actually, no. That’s already in the genes, clearly. They’ll just make it worse.”

He reached out to cup my cheek before kissing me again.
