“Hmm. Alpha Asher? He’s right,” Beta Tobias warned.

“We’ll handle it,” Alpha Cain announced, and that drew everyone’s attention to him. “Get to the East and handle the douche trying to fuck up the Syndicates. We’ll deal with the Dusk problems.”

“Leave it to us,” Nova exclaimed. “Nice meeting you, Selene! Let’s meet again soon! Hopefully, I’ll be secretly married too,” she said with a wink.

“Eh?” Alpha Cain commented, and Nova laughed.

“Nothing!” she hummed and shooed us away. “Get going!”

“Nice meeting you,” I said and waved at each of them before Asher took my hand and took the lead.

“We’ll keep in touch,” Asher assured Alpha Cain.

“Got it,” he replied and bid us farewell.

“If we're rushing to the East, does that mean things went horribly wrong?” I dared to ask as we rushed down the streets to head to our bikes and car.

“Let’s just say plans are in motion and all we gotta do is lead Zed to the one person he’s desperate to kill.”

“Who’s that?” I had to know.

Asher grinned as he peered down at me, and all I could do was groan.

“Great.”

I’m always the target of mayhem.

CHAPTER10

Revive The Worthy And Unexpected Blessings

“Time…out,” I breathed and placed my hands on my knees, only to duck further to avoid the flaming sword that was inches from slicing through my ponytail. “Mercury!”

“There are no timeouts on the battlefield,” she pointed out the obvious before sending balls of water at me. I grunted and did my best to evade, but dizziness assaulted my senses, to the point, I really felt like I was going to pass out.

I went on one knee with the intention of putting up a shield but sensed the flaming forward was back with vengeance.

“Ugh,” I grunted I wouldn’t be able to conjure anything in time, so I lifted my hands up to try and stop the flaming blade with my own hands — only to catch onto the loud clashing sound and sudden weight in my grasp.

A simple glance upward revealed a white flaming sword in my grasp that was certainly double the size of Mercury’s sword; the burning force was so mesmerizing to look at, that’s all I could do until it fizzled out of existence.

Again?

"Hmm. So you weren’t lying.”

I blinked out of my daze, realizing there were two Mercury’s standing there. I needed to squint my eyes to know I was seeing double because the illusion became one as Mercury crouched down to press her hand on my forehead.

“You don’t have a fever though,” she admitted more to herself before offering her hand to help me. “Have you been sleeping?”

“I have all week,” I whined. “It took Abyss to wake me up after Asher and Axel attempted to wake me from my lovely dreams.”

Mercury nodded her head. “You’ve been slipping into the Shadow Realm in your sleep, haven’t you?”

“It’s not intentional,” I emphasized. “It’s just happening a lot. As if I’m summoned there. Father seems to sense whenever I slip into the realm without realizing it. He stays with me until I wake up, but even he is pretty stumped as to why I keep slipping between realms.”

“Have you inquired with the goddess?”

“You mean Nyx?” I asked for clarification as she ensured I wouldn’t fall back on my ass before letting go of me. “She agrees with Asher and Azu that it could be my Celestial powers. Awakening at a faster pace which my body isn’t used to and is why I’m dealing with the dizzy spells. The exhaustion is due to me slipping in and out of the Shadow Realm at night so I’m technically not getting enough hours of sleep. She said if it keeps happening, she’ll need to come to visit and watch me sleep for a few hours.”
