I did as I was told in excitement before I took a giddy breath and got onto the bike.
“So comfy and the body feels so light,” I whispered, on an admiring spree once more while checking out the different controls. It wouldn’t be hard to navigate at all since it seemed very similar to Ruby’s operations.
“You can probably drive faster than me,” he noted as he began to take a walk-through of my bike while I laid my hands on the handles.
“Processing scan. Confirming main rider, Selene Every Bleu. Please confirm.”
“Confirm,” I repeated before watching Asher’s movement. “I feel like you’d already checked Sapphire out multiple times before giving her to me.”
“I did.” His focus clearly wasn’t on me.
“Yet you’re checking again.”
“Mhmm.”
“Because?” I pressed as he reached the front of the bike and paused to look at my judgemental look that was pure sass.
“Because,” he began and leaned over to lay his hands over mine as he moved closer so his face was inches from mine, “I have to ensure the safety of my fiancée. Does my mate have a problem with that?”
“Overprotective,” I muttered and shook my head. “Should I even ponder what would happen if you were a father?”
His silence only invited me to look back into his eyes, and he smiled almost hauntingly before he f leaned forward to brush his lips against mine.
“I’d destroy anyone who dares target what’s mine,”he vowed, and it sent shivers through me.“No one will steal what’s precious to me again.”
He pulled away as I blushed and finished his inspection.
"You’ll be good to go,” he encouraged, hugging me from behind and resting his chin on my right shoulder. “Keep her safe, Sapphire.”
“Safety of greatest priority for my Master Selene. All systems are ready. Safety protocols at the top level of security. The path toward the East Syndicate portal is mapped and ready to proceed. Any exterior threats have been confronted. Time left to leave —5 minutes.”
“Let’s get going,” he encouraged and with a kiss to my cheek, he pulled down the tinted face shield of my helmet and got off Sapphire to fix his own helmet.
Within a minute, he had his helmet on and was sitting on Ruby as she warmed up — our two bikes roaring to life as their engines vibrated with power.
I could barely sit still as I gripped the handles and looked to Asher just as he glanced over to confirm he was ready to go.
“You’ll follow my lead?” he offered, and I couldn’t help but smirk in defiance which made him groan. “You have the coordinates and promise not to do anything stupid that will encourage me to punish you?” he elaborated.
“Aww. When you say it that way, it’s a bit tempting since your punishments are rather…” I trailed off on purpose to emphasize my next words, “unique in nature.”
“Tsk.” He shook his head. “I know you fucking love them.”
I shrugged.
“If you’re expecting to see some sort of shameful reaction from me, it ain’t happening,” I declared and gripped the handles that ramped up my engine.
“Sapphire, we’re following Alpha Asher’s lead,” I declared, noticing his surprise that I was willing to go along with what he was requesting.
“Following Alpha Asher and Ruby’s lead. Understood.”
“This is technically a mission of a sort so I should listen to my Alpha,” I purred and gave him a wink.
He tried to hide the blush that swarmed his cheeks before he muttered how troublesome I was to his damn heart, which had me giggling.
I peered at my ring finger to make sure the wonderful prism diamond was still there, my cheeks beginning to hurt from how widely I’d been smiling.
I noticed the movement to my left, and my eyes peeled from the twinkling sight to see Asher’s outstretched arm.
