“Excellent work, to both of you.”

I sighed with relief. “Now can I take a break?”

Cyburn rolled with laughter and slung his right arm over my shoulder. “You can have whatever you like, my darling. Let’s take a little time to unwind and celebrate the conquering of the day.”

I coiled my left arm around his waist and attached myself to him with an affectionate hug. “Nowyou are speaking my love language, Captain Cyburn.”

ChapterSixteen

CYBURN

“Ican’t believe we’ve made it to this moment,” I said, sitting in the captain's seat, ready to take off for the next adventure — the next step on our road to victory.

Carmela sat beside me to the right, and Nix was to my left.

“A lot of blood, sweat and tears was poured into this moment,” Nix offered with a prideful smile.

“You couldn’t be more right about that.” I squeezed my hand together and gave him a fist bump beside me.

Carmela stroked my shoulder, her fingertips grazing across my skin until a chill of pleasure rolled up and down my spine.

I made a mental note to have my way with her later. Intimate playtime was getting more frequent between us, and I found myself craving her at all hours of the day — and night.

Her curls looked vibrant and bouncy, shimmering a fantastic and alluring copper color under the recessed lighting of the bridge.

“We made it to the finish line,” she purred. “Well, not thefinalfinish line, but one of the finish lines on our road map.”

Her bright eyes sparkled with exuberance. She was cute and spunky. How I could have ever doubted her loyalty was beyond me.

I leaned across the center console to provide her with a passionate kiss. Her lips parted, and she released a desperate sigh.

“Later, sweetheart,” I whispered in her ear just before nibbling on it, causing goose bumps to splatter across her exposed, ivory skin.

She intoxicated me, opened up the dead places inside me and sparked them back to life.

Carmela’s springy smile made my heart pound and caused my cock to throb. Her eyelashes fluttered with frisky flirtation.

“Easy there.” Nix chuckled beside us, apparently noticing the flame-filled moment between me and Carmela. “You two can celebrate later on your own time.”

I turned my head toward him, an untamed smile venturing across my lips. “We plan to.”

Nix cringed, shuddered, then shook his head. “I don’t want to know.”

“Nobody is telling.” I laughed.

Nix nodded with approval. “Good.”

Carmela’s cheeks turned fire-engine red, and she turned her face away from both of us, chewing on her bottom lip.

I patted her thigh and scrolled my hand upward until she batted it away and whispered, ‘"Stop, not now," in a mortified voice.

All the repairs and modifications to the Blade had been successfully completed. I boasted of my crew, giving them support, and praising them for all their hard work and initiative.

Morale was higher than it had been in weeks, and I finally felt like we were getting somewhere with the snail-paced progress against the Belic.

“How are things going in here?”Nix asked, approaching me on the bridge.
