"Good thing you have me then." Carmela and I exchanged another flirtatious glance with each other that lasted for more than several seconds.

It was enough to make my heart pound with desire again. I felt this intense heat wash over me. My cock filled with blood, making it hard as a pistol, swollen and throbbing. I wanted to fuck Carmela so badly it almost hurt.

"I think it's a great thing," I admitted. "I believe everything happens for a reason."

Carmela's eyes went wider with surprise. She gave me a conceding smile. "You know what? I share theexactsame beliefs."

"There are no accidents," I added. "I also believe that."

Carmela's smile deepened. "I couldn't agree more."

We were having a private moment, and a mutual bond was growing between us. I genuinely enjoyed it, and I felt the way she was crushing hard on me.

I didn't mind it. It boosted my ego a little and gave me something to hope for about the future. I was grateful that Nix was distracted, too, lost in deep thought with enemy targets on his brain.

"We are getting closer to the central core of the ship," I explained to Carmela.

Carmela looked suddenly nervous. She lightly nibbled on her bottom lip and her forehead wrinkled with worry.

I felt compelled to reassure her. "We are going to take care of the problem, don't worry."

Carmela nodded at me as if she wanted to believe me, but she was still slightly on the fence. I was going to have to do some more convincing, but it all started with action.

"Wesure are." She grinned, almost as if she were trying to playfully correct me and remind me that she was just as much a part of this 'operation overthrow' as the rest of my team was.

I nodded to Nix behind me, who was now catching up. I didn't know if he had been deliberately trying to give me and Carmela some quality moments to get to know each other or if he was just that invested in destroying the Belic. Nix was normally an uncomplicated man, a 'family' man, if you will.

From time to time, I thought about the idea of starting a family one day of my own. I'd always been distracted myself with the ideology of taking out the Belic and restoring a real home for those living in my kingdom.

A traveling spaceship was hardly my idea of a true home. For so long, evenbeforemy father died, I'd been almost obsessed with the prospect of taking back what should have never been stolen from us in the first place— our home planet and everything that went along with it.

Now that I'd met Carmela, my perspective was changing a bit. I didn't want to gettoofar ahead of myself, but it might be nice to have a sexual mate to celebrate our victory with over this Belic ship.

One step at a time, I reminded myself. I also reminded myself that there was nothing wrong with celebrating the small victories. In the end, it was all just a process until we made it to the finish line. I wouldn't even allow myself to think that far ahead. It was too overwhelming that way, anyway.

Either way, I was struggling to stay on task, but Carmela's captivating beauty was extremely distracting.

As Nix jogged up to us, I caught him up to speed. I wanted us both to be in agreement about the plan from here. It was something we had to pull off without a single flaw otherwise. Nix was my second in command and he took the role extremely seriously.

"I think we'll be at the central core soon," I mentioned, pulling up the blueprint of the Belic ship on the small tablet that was attached to the wrist plate of my armor.

Nix had one too. It was how we navigated our way around our foreign environments, and it also served as a link to the rest of our units and ships.

"Are we going to assassinate the captain?" Nix asked me cautiously as if he didn't want Carmela to hear us discussing our murderous plans.

"Yes," I confirmed with a nod and glanced over at Carmela who was concentrating all her attention on our conversation.

There was no reason to sugar coat any of this. I was confident that Carmela understood the terms of our situation and was committed to the cause.

As if reading my mind, she confirmed it. "It's either us or them, remember?" She eyed me acutely.

Just when I thought I couldn't get any further impressed with her, she upped the ante. "Hell yes— and I'll never forget it, either."

"We gotta do what we gotta do," Carmela said with an endearing smile as if all this wasn't brand new to her.

One thing was certain. She was easy going and allowed things to just roll off her back, including her fear. At least, that was the impressionIgot from her. If shewasmore frightened than she let on, she certainly didn't let it show.

"Once we have err…" I trailed off and cleared my throat before exchanging a glance with Nix and Carmela, "taken out the ship's captain, our next order of business will be to swipe the access badge from him."
