“You’resureitlooksbetter than his nest at the old house?” Dom asks, a decent amount of sweat dripping down his forehead. I want to lick it up. He smells amazing right now.

“He’s going to love it.”

He hooks the last rod onto the ceiling, all the walls but one are in a gauzy white material to look like a bungalow. Except for the mural I painted on the one wall. It’s a Caribbean sunset and I hope he likes it.

“Tonight is big,” Dom says. I can’t help but to jump up and down just a teeny bit.

My brother just got married, and while I’m happy for him and Cami from the depths of my heart, it made me a bit irritated with our pack’s timeline. We’ve all been putting in the work—a substantial amount of work.

Hell, Dom and Shyla even go on regular friend dates. They both hate that I call them friend dates, but if that doesn’t scream love, I don’t know what does. And while things might not be absolutely perfect, we all agreed with one hundred percent certainty that this was for us.

Cameron’s heat is any day now and at our last pack therapy session, we all decided that this was it. That we needed to bond before Cameron’s heat. With how I reacted to not being bonded during my heat and the fact that we don’t need Heat Haven, we wanted it to be something we decided and not the pheromones in the heat of the moment (no pun intended.)

“You and Shy are going to get food for the week?” he asks. His muscular arm bulges as he hangs the white noise machine in the corner.

“Maybe she can just go?” I say, but also note how cute it is that he calls her by a nickname. They still argue, and I mean often. But now it’s over dumb shit. Who is sleeping where, what we’re having for dinner, who needs attention. I think they both get off on it, but won’t admit it.

“You better save up all that sexual energy for this week, baby,” he tells me.

“But I have so much of it, it wouldn’t hurt to just have a little appetizer.”

He laughs and begins to climb down the stepladder as Shyla walks through the door. She just got off work and has her bossy aura still surrounding her. “You ready to go, sweet girl?” she asks, and I wonder how much convincing I would need to do for a threesome right now.

Dom tsks me from the corner. “Go shopping. You wanted this to be perfect.”

“This is true,” I sigh.

“Don’t look so put out,” Shyla says, smacking my ass as we walk up the stairs from our basement. I love this house. What I love even more about this house is all my favorite people live in it. My nest isn’t done yet, and there isn’t a pool (yet), but it’s nearly perfect.

“I’m just feeling peckish,” I reply, and she laughs.

“Yeah, well, there will be plenty of that this week. Do you have the list?” she asks and I hold up my phone. I know Cameron’s favorite snacks and since we’re at home, it’s easier to make meals for the group and have more breaks for everyone. Plus, if we’re bound before the heat, we will be so in tune with each other, it’s just going to be magical.

Shyla must notice my overenthusiasm as she cups my face and kisses me. “It can’t come soon enough, “she whispers and smiles at me.

We talk about what we’re working on the whole way to the grocery store. I’m just so amped up I can’t shut up. “Oh! How is Tire’s case looking?” I ask her. Tire was a man that my idiot brother met while he was in jail for a few days. His story absolutely broke my heart. Since Shyla is only licensed in Virginia, she doesn’t work directly on the case, but her firm in New York does.

“Still no bodies, so that’s something.”

“Oh, I’ll have to show you the free Tire shirts I made. Liv already had about one hundred printed.”

Shyla laughs and nods. They didn’t know what to make about my Omega girl group, but Shyla seems to get along with Grayson and my brother when we’re all together.

“I heard your brother keeps his commissary stocked,” she chirps in.

“I’m not sure if it’s out of fear or duty,” I reply.

“Well, Tire is innocent until proven guilty,” Shyla says. We both know damn well he is guilty. But after reading everything those Alphas did to his poor sister, I don’t blame him.

“True.”

“I would do anything to keep you safe,” Shyla says, looking at me with so much affection I nearly melt in the passenger seat.

“I know,” I reply honestly. Like helping take on this crazy case because it made my heart hurt.

When we get into the grocery store, we push the cart together, her one hand on top of mine. Honestly, looking in, it’s grossly affectionate but I absolutely bathe in it. I’m sure a normal couple would split up the list and pile it in the cart. But my Alphas are a little crazy and don’t like Cameron or me to really wander off anywhere on our own. I find it kind of hot, and Cameron doesn’t really like going out anyway, so he doesn’t mind.
