You're next.

What was doneto my truck is a message, and I don't do well with being threatened.

"I'm going to kick Blaine's fucking ass!" I growl as I charge back to the house.

"Calm down, Aria. You don't know it was—"

"Don't I, though? Who else has a reason to destroy my truck like that or a reason to call me a whore? Fuck. Him." I don't usually curse in front of my dad but I'm pissed. I love my truck, and I won't stand for this bullshit.

"We will get to the bottom of this, Aria, okay?" Kai says gently before placing a kind hand on my shoulder. "Just take a breath. If it was Blaine, we'll find out and I swear to you, he'll be punished for it."

I take a deep breath to calm my rage and slowly nod. "Thanks, Kai. I appreciate that. I'm gonna have a cup of coffee before I go off half-cocked and murder Blaine."

I'm not even joking. No one fucks with my truck. I begrudgingly sit back and see if Kai and my dad can get this dealt with.

"I'll take it to the dealership and have everything restored, kiddo. We'll file a police report and everything. Just chill out, okay?"

They can do what they need to. I just hope I don't run into Blaine during the school day.

CHAPTERFOUR

KAI

As soon as Aria heads back inside after witnessing what my guys did to her truck, Tom turns to me and his fist connects with my jaw, knocking me back a foot. Pain sears through the joint but dissipates as soon as I stretch it out.

"What the fuck was that for?"

Tom stares at me with anger on his face. "Because I have the feeling whatever explanation you have as to why the first step of C-4 was just enacted on my daughter is going to make me want to murder you. I punched you so I don't kill you," he admits.

He has very good reasons to want to kill me but he won't. Tom Patrick doesn't have it in him. He's not a murderer. He's many things, but he’s no murderer.

"Now, tell me why you're going back on your promise. We moved here with the understanding that my daughter wouldn't be touched.Hands off. Why, huh?"

"She walked into it," I admit.

"How the fuck did she walk into it? She keeps her distance. I know she does because I see her in those halls, too." Tom growls with frustration.

"Blaine is how. He took the oath yesterday."

"Goddamn it," he curses. "He had you enact C-4 on her because she turned him down? Fucking pansy-ass bitch!"

"It's more … complicated than that. She's been fucking him, Tom."

He stills, stiffening, before looking at me. "Excuse me?"

"His words, not mine. It's been going on for a while on a … casual basis."

Tom paces back and forth, grabbing his hair like he's losing his mind, before he turns to me.

"We've known each other for a long time. I'm begging you. Leave her alone. She's my fucking daughter, Kai. I never ask you for anything but I'm begging you."

Maybe if I had a heart I might actually feel bad for him. He didn't used to be soft like this but it seems being out of the loop for so long has brought out his humanity which is such a shame.

"Did you beg for Lillian?" I ask.

His expression turns to stone like any other time Aria's mother is brought up.

"Kai, please. She's my blood. Aria is my little girl."Yeah, right.
