I couldn’t standthe fact we hadn’t discussed having sex.

I had hoped he wouldn’t bring it up, but when he didn’t, I wished he would. I hated that it was just hanging in the air, and I felt that there was even more sexual tension between us than ever before. Though I hadn’t made another move to have sex with him, I didn’t really have the chance to, either.

And I didn’t doubt if the chance did come up that I would act on it.

If he didn’t first.

I was up early as usual, and I decided that it was time to talk. I would ambush him when he got home from work, then he could go back to his room to sleep for a few hours, and I could digest what we discussed. It seemed like the perfect way to have the talk and not have to hang out after, but I was immediately deterred from having that conversation as soon as Abe walked in the door.

He wasn’t alone.

Not only had he brought coffee and donuts, but he had brought another man along with him as well. This was a complete shock to me since he had told me several times that he didn’t want anyone to know that I was here.

Evidently, he had changed his mind, and he hadn’t given me any time to prepare for this before the man was standing right in front of me.

“Iris, this is Glenn. Glenn, Iris,” Abe said.

“Nice to meet you,” Glenn held out his hand, and charmingly kissed the backs of my fingers when I extended my hand to shake his.

“You as well,” I said. “I didn’t know Abe was going to be bringing anyone home or I might have gotten dressed first.”

“You look fine,” he said, brushing off the fact I was in pajama bottoms and an oversized t-shirt. “I dragged Abe to get coffee and donuts with me after work this morning, and I guess the course of conversation made it so I had to come meet you as soon as possible. Blame me, not him.”

“I told him about your problem with Joel,” Abe said. “I gave him a copy of the photo, and he’s offered to help me keep an eye around town so if Joel shows up, we can handle the problem right away.”

“That’s very kind,” I said, looking from one man to the other.

“Let’s have some donuts, shall we?” Glenn said.

“I thought you already ate,” I replied.

“Never too full for another donut.” He laughed.

We all sat at the table in the dining room, and I listened to Glenn and Abe talk about the plan they had to get rid of Joel – if they were to find him. Though I knew that was Joel in that photo, I still didn’t know where he had taken the photo or when.

I hoped Joel wasn’t stupid enough to come stalking around here, but I also had the sneaking suspicion that he was. He wasn’t going to give up until he had found me.

Glenn was polite enough to ask me about myself and what my plans were, and though I had to be vague about where I was going or what I was going to do since I wasn’t sure, I tried to make it sound as though I was well on my way out the door.

I didn’t want this man to think that I was taking advantage of his friend, or that I had planned on just living here forever. I knew that I was imposing, and I wanted to get out of there as soon as I could. Not to mention the fact that now that I had met Glenn, I wasn’t sure what it meant.

Was he going to bring in more of the MC? Did he think that I was okay with this life? Was I okay with this life? Or was it because I knew I was falling for him harder than I thought possible that I thought I might be able to handle being with someone who was part of the club?

There were so many questions going through my mind, I could hardly focus on the conversation we were having – until Tristan came running out to the dining room. I hadn’t heard him getting up, but he didn’t seem to mind at all that there was a strange man in the house.

“That’s funny. He’s normally pretty shy around people he doesn’t know,” I said as Tristan stared at Glenn.

“He probably likes my earrings,” Glenn said.

“Or that stupid look you always have on your face,” Abe replied.

“Shut up!” Glenn said. “You’re the stupid one!”

“Sure,” Abe said.
