The man turns with Anna in his arms.

“Anna, what happened? Are you alright?”

“Hey Adrienne. Yeah, I’ll be fine. I just slipped on some wet rocks back at the waterfall.”

“Slipped?” The man holding her says with an eye roll. “I’ll be surprised if it’s not broken.”

“My name is Aris. Dr. Aris McElfry. I’m a surgeon and I’m happy to look at it or be of any help you might need.”

“Aris, it’s so nice to meet you. Adrienne had nothing but great things to say about you when we chatted the other day. I’m Anna. This is Sebastian.” She gestures to the man holding her and he nods. “Sebastian thinks I should see the ship’s doctor and go from there but what do you think?”

Anna raises her leg a hair and Aris steps over to take a quick look.

“It’s definitely pretty swollen. If nothing else, you’ll want to get some ice on that as soon as possible. Compress and elevate it tonight if you can. Let’s hope this is just a sprain and not something worse. The fact your foot is facing the correct direction is a good sign. I’ve definitely seen worse, but if you need anything…anything at all, please don’t hesitate to find me. My brothers are on this cruise as well and we’re all doctors. We’ll make sure you’re taken care of.”

“Doctors on vacation, don’t forget,” Anna says with a sympathetic tilt of the head. “I’m sure you all deserve time off.”

Aris shrugs like doctoring is no big deal. “We’ve vowed to do no harm and I would never turn my back on someone in need. Especially a friend.”

“Thank you again, so much, for your kindness.”

“Thank you.” Sebastian nods.

“Hey, let me know how you’re feeling later, okay?” I tell her. If you need someone to bring you food or drinks, we’re happy to help.”

“Thanks guys. Hope to see you soon.”

Aris wraps an arm around me as we watch the couple disappear up the dock and onto the ship.

“An injury is one thing but an injury on vacation just straight up sucks.” He sighs.

“Yeah, tell me about it. I hope she’s okay.”

Watching Aris in his element is an experience I hadn’t given much thought to before now, but seeing him do what he’s good at, what he loves, and helping someone in need, no matter where he is…it’s an attractive trait.

Standing together, I bump my hip into his. “Watching you be all doctor-y was kinda hot. Not gonna lie.”

A smirk spreads across his face. “Yeah?”

“Mmm hmm.”

“Hot as innnnn late for dinner, hot?” he murmurs in my ear.

I contemplate what he’s asking. In all seriousness I could skip dinner altogether, but for Aris’s sake, I don’t want to skip out on being with his family. “We don’t have to be late if we shower at the same time.”

He deadpans and stares at me. “You know that’s probably going to lead to my boning you in the shower, right?”

Now it’s my turn to smirk. I don’t even have to say words. He grabs the beach bag from my hand and puts it on the ground before leaning over and wrapping his arms around the back of my legs, hoisting me over his shoulder in a fireman’s carry. He grabs the beach bag, slaps my ass, and starts walking.

“No time to lose!”

I’m in a fit of giggles, spanking him as we laugh the entire way up the dock and onto the ship, where he finally puts me down, holding me against him and then kisses me, no fucks given that we’re holding up the line to board in the process.

Dammit.

I really like him.
