“You think so?” She cringes, a little unsure of herself.
“Uh, yeah. That was one hundred percent exactly what you need for your channel. You’re taking something everyone has in their home, an old dresser we never know what to do with, and you’re turning it into antiqued plant stands and a freaking kitchen island? That’s amazing!”
“You really think people are going to go for this kind of thing though?”
I step back and gesture to her with my best diva-like voice. “Lacey Fox, are you doubting yourself?”
“Ugh. I know right? Graham is always telling me to fix my crown. I guess I’m my own worst enemy.”
“Girl, you already have thousands of subscribers.” I clap her shoulder. “Trust me, if you flip it, they will come.”
“You want a Swiss Roll?”
“If you’re offering, I’m taking.”
As Lacey moves over to her ever-growing snack cabinet, I see Hadley Hutton pull up outside. “Hey, Hadley’s here.”
“Oh yeah,” Lacey says. “She had a few wedding things to talk through. I told her you were coming, so she wanted to see you too.”
The door next to the large garage door opens and Hadley steps through. “Hey ladies!”
“Hi Hadley.” I smile as she walks in and then give her a tight hug. “How are you not at the bakery right now? You practically live there.”
She laughs. “I know right? But it’s our slow season…if there is such a thing, so Beckham told me to take a few days off and pamper myself while I do some wedding planning. The holidays just made everything too stressful to think about but now that I have some time, I can get wedding work done.”
“Great. Can we help?” Lacey asks her. “Also here, it’s time for a Swiss Roll break.”
I catch my snack from Lacey and Hadley holds hers in her hand. “You know I have to fit into a wedding dress in like, two months, right? And I work in a bakery?”
Lacey shrugs. “Yeah, but these things are so processed, the calories get processed right out too, so you’re safe.”
Hadley laughs. “Perfect. Then by all means, I will happily deep throat these babies. And of course, you can help me. That’s why I stopped by while Emily was still here.”
With my hand on my chest, I raise my brows. “Me?”
“Yeah, you.”
“Okay. Sure.” I nod. “Anything you need. How can I help?”
“You can put on a pretty dress and walk down the aisle with Emmett.”
Uh.
Wait.
Did our fake couple rumor spread through town that fast?
Oh my God, did Mom make phone calls about us to her friends?
Did Dad tell everyone at the station?
“You mean…uh…like we…did he say…”
“I need bridesmaids, bitches. Will you pretty please be one of my bridesmaids?”
Oooh.
Phew.
