My hands roam down his back, and I grab his ass as I urge him faster. My toes curl as the swirling ball of ecstasy pools in my gut, and I’m almost there.

“Aiden,” I pant out his name. “I’m close.”

His jaw is clenches, and I know he’s close too. Aiden thrusts deep several more times. I don’t want him ever to leave. I tighten my inner muscles and push him over the edge, taking me with him.

Our shared release consumes us. He wraps himself around me and kisses me as we come down from our orgasmic bliss. He doesn’t pull himself out of me right away, leaving us connected in more ways than one.

CHAPTER6

Bellamy

Waking in Aiden’s arms, I snuggle closer to him. He pulls me in tighter against him without waking up. It’s so instinctual for him to hold me that he does it in his sleep.

Happiness fills me up, and I feel lighter than I have in a long time. I never believed this would ever be an option again, yet here we are. Letting Aiden go all those years ago was the biggest mistake of my life. I won’t make that same mistake again.

“Good morning,” he says, his voice raspy from sleep as he nuzzles my ear.

“Great morning.”

He laughs. “As much as I love the view in front of me, people in this town are early risers, and we don’t need to be giving them a show.”

With the sun slowly rising and anybody can see us. He rolls away from me but returns quickly to my side with our clothes.

We dress quickly, but not without Aiden stealing a few kisses from me. Not that I’m complaining.

He pulls on his shirt, and I’ll be counting down the minutes until I can see him naked again. He has filled out more since I last saw him and exploring him better in sunlight is quite tempting.

“So, how have things been?” I ask.

He chuckles at my question. “We skipped that part, didn’t we?”

I nod as I wrap my arms around myself in his hoodie. It’s chilly this morning, and not being in his arms anymore makes me cold.

He notices because as soon as he finishes dressing, he sits down behind me and envelopes me with his body. I lean back against him, feeling completely content.

“Well, I’m in business with Carter, but you might’ve already heard that. We build furniture and outdoor structures. We got a great contract with O’Malley Lumber about a year ago, and that has made it to where we get great deals on quality wood. The business has been going great. Some of my art commissions are piling up, making it harder to get all the work done on time, but it’s a good problem to have. We plan to expand and get some help within the next year.”

I smile and tug his arms tighter around me. I want him as close to me as physically possible.

“That’s wonderful, Aiden. I’m so proud of you.”

He hugs me close.

“I’ve always known you were good with your hands,” I add.

“I’m glad you agree.” He kisses my temple. “What about you?”

I sigh. I’m nowhere close to making my dreams come true the way he has. It’s easy to tell him my plans, but it reminds me that I still have to have this discussion today with my parents. Where I know the reception will not be received well. It’s not something I’m looking forward to. I’ve been putting it off for months, but now my time has run out.

“I’m about to graduate with my master’s in education. Then I’m supposed to go to London for my doctorate. I’m supposed to leave in a month.”

He’s quiet for a moment but keeps his hold on me tight, like he’s afraid I’ll disappear.

“Supposed to?” he asks.

I eye the lake and watch as the birds fly around and land in the nearby trees. I would love for my mornings to always be like this. Calm. Peaceful. And in the arms of the man I love.

“I’m done with school. I’ve been done with school. I’m ready to get started on my career. I just want to be a teacher. I want to teach children, not undergrads, and I don’t need a doctorate for that. I’m ready to settle down, to have a home, find a hobby, take vacations—start living.”
