He felt like he’d done everything wrong from the beginning. He figured spaghetti was easy to cook, and she couldn’t make too big a mess. He’d been wrong. First, he gave her some sauce to test out, and she spat it in his face. While he turned to wipe it off, Violet had taken the bowl and thrown it off the highchair, splattering the wall and cabinets with the red sauce.
Violet giggled excitedly and started to scream at the top of her lungs, waving her hands. He tried to remain calm, but it was hard. His kitchen was a disaster.
Kelli had walked outside for a second to make a phone call, and when she returned, her eyes grew wide. “Oh, my god.”
His shoulders sagged, and he frowned. This was not at all how he expected today to go. It seemed nothing was going how he thought.
She stuck her phone in her pocket and walked toward them. “How about we get her in the bath and clean up the mess?”
He gave her a nod, eager to get everything clean. But Violet giggled, pulling their attention to her. Then, the sound of her pooping her pants filled the air. The smell came just a second after.
Kelli squeezed her lips together, glancing at him. She smirked. “Well, she’s got a digestive system that’s working. That’s something.”
“That’s really not helping,” he said, pulling Violet up and out of her chair. He pulled her close, getting a whiff of her diaper. It was ripe.
They headed through the house, and Kelli turned the water on in the bathroom, preparing it with the perfect heat. He stared at Violet, and she smirked at him like she knew what was coming.
“All right, now we are going to bathe you,” he said, giving her a look. “Let’s make this as easy as you can on your uncle, shall we? Make this easy for me so I can figure out where your parents are.”
She held the same smirk on her face.
He grabbed her shirt and tried to pull it off, but she started to scream, making Kelli jump. “What are you doing?”
“Nothing,” he said, trying once more. “She’s being a little difficult, is all.”
“Well, don’t take forever.”
After he set her on the floor, he got her shirt free and froze, realizing the mess still waited. Violet was covered in tomato sauce, and while that wasn’t great, there was a bigger problem.
Her diaper had lost its hold and slipped slightly. Shit ran down her legs. Kelli’s eyes grew wide, and she quickly hid her mouth, trying not to laugh.
“Oh my God,” he said, unsure of what to do. “How can someone so small create so much shit?”
Violet started to cry and took a step toward him. He tried to move, but she was quicker, grabbing onto him and smearing the tomato and shit all over his pants.
“Kelli!” he growled, holding Violet back. “Help me, please.”
Kelli grabbed her, pulling her up. “Grab her pants and the diaper so I can put her into the tub.”
He grabbed her clothing, pulling it off, and the diaper fell with it. He gagged as Violet giggled, wiggling her legs in the air. “Make her stop wiggling. She is filling the air with that smell and slinging shit on me.”
Kelli turned, carrying Violet to the tub as he tossed the diaper into the trash. He stared at his hands, seeing they were covered in shit. He quickly wiped them on toilet paper before he looked at Violet in the bath.
She smiled at him. He wondered if she knew what she was doing and if she meant it on purpose.
He grabbed a rag soaking it in the water. He dumped soap on her and started to clean her, but she had other plans. She wiggled and splashed the water on both him and Kelli. They were both soaked by the time they managed to get her clean.
They had to drain the water twice while she pooped in the tub. Kelli kept laughing, and he wondered if he was just making a mess. He clearly had no idea what he was doing, and everything just seemed to be getting worse.
His frustration was getting the better of him, and he needed to step away.
He finally threw his hands up and turned, leaving the room. “I need to make a phone call.” Kelli still laughed, seemingly unfazed.
He needed a moment to collect himself. He dried his hands and headed down the hallway as he pulled out his phone. He stepped into his office as he called to catch up with any progress on locating Archie. He wanted to know where everyone was when it came to finding his brother.
“Hey, boss,” one of his guys answered, and he swung into his chair. He pinched the bridge of his nose, taking a deep breath.
“Have we found anything new?”
