Page 28 of Monster's Obsession

“Oh,” I gasped, and I suddenly didn’t want to sit on any of the furniture, thinking that Creed and the others had sex with the queen in here. It was strange to feel jealousy for someone I’d never met and who was long gone. But for all I knew, they still missed her…craved her.

“Thank you for showing me this place,” I said softly, inching toward the cage door, figuring I might try my luck with reaching the balcony once more to spot my monsters. “But I should be heading back.”

“Nonsense, you just arrived,” Bane insisted, unraveling his arms and taking my hands into his long skeletal ones, his touch icy cold. “I will bring you a cold beverage while you relax.”

I might have almost vomited at the thought. “You’re very kind, but I’m not thirsty or hungry. Please, I don’t need anything." I didn’t want to be rude, but I couldn’t eat or drink anything from this place after seeing the snail.

“There are books you can read in the drawers under the table too,” he exclaimed, making his way to the doorway where he paused. “Please do me the honor of staying here a little while as it will calm those downstairs if they think you might be here waiting for our king to feed them.”

“B-but I don’t know where Creed is and—”

“Yes, yes.” He waved me to quiet down. “But they don’t need to know that. Everyone has been so on edge the last couple of days with the lower food supply, and unrest is spreading through the city, so I’m trying to bring some calm where I can. But you need to hurry and spend more time with the king and his men.” There was a dark desperation behind his voice, the hunger everyone must be experiencing, leaving me feeling horrible.

I nodded, figuring I’d go along with it. It was the least I could do, seeing as I felt absolutely terrible about starving people. What I needed was for my monsters to get back already.

Bane gave me a thankful smile, ducked his head through the doorway, and stepped out of the cage.

Sitting on the edge of the couch, I gazed around, trying really hard not to overthink how chaotic my life was becoming. To distract myself, I pulled out the drawer beneath the coffee table, thinking it was an odd place to keep books. It turned out that these weren’t exactly books, but more like magazines. I grabbed the top one that had a photo of a blue monster with deep blue dots all over her body and her tail curled around her middle, her long golden hair draped down her body, falling to her knees. She was quite beautiful. Though her hair would take a lot of work to keep it so shiny and perfect.

I started to flick through it, deciding that I’d leave after a few minutes as there had to be an easy way out of the cafe that didn’t require patrons to go through the kitchen or the elevator.

When I landed on a page where the blue female was being bent over and someone else’s tail was pushing between her spread thighs, I dropped the magazine instantly. Mostly out of shock that I was flicking through a monster porn mag. What the hell!

But as if on cue, the moment it hit the floor, someone cleared their throat from the doorway. My gaze shot up to where Creed filled the entrance to the cage.

Raven black hair dangled over his shoulders, glowing red eyes that screamed predator, and a face sculpted so perfectly, he could be a god. I couldn’t deny that even in his monster form, he turned me on. He wore tight, black pants and shirt, and his chest was ripped with sculpted muscles and calling for my touch.

Butterflies burst through me at seeing him, at the thought he’d found me, and with an audible gulp, I jolted to my feet.

“You’re back,” I murmured.

His eyes gleamed, his nostrils flaring, taking in my scent. “You’ve missed me, I see,” he stated, his gaze sliding to the magazine at my feet. It was only when I also glanced down that I realized the page had flipped over to one of a minotaur monster holding the world’s biggest cock and a tiny snake-like monster kneeling in front of him with her mouth gaping open.

I flushed all over. “I-I wasn’t looking at that.” God, could I sound any more guilty. I picked it up quickly and stuffed it back into the drawer. “Anyway, what did you find out?” Was it suddenly really hot in here?

“We have a big problem,” he announced, sauntering across the cage and to the window. He held out his hand to me. I accepted it, my fingers curled with his, and he drew me to stand in front of him, both of us staring out the window. It didn’t take me long to notice smoke curling upward from three spots farther across the city.

“Are those fires?” My muscles strained because I feared the worst.

“Protesters,” he muttered, his voice darkening. “Families are starving, so many are furious and lost about what to do. They’re angry at me, threatening to burn down the whole city if I don’t fix this now.”

Every single nuance of feeling in my body seized up, and fear twisted inside me. I tightened my hand around his and glanced up at my king. He ran a clawed hand along the side of my face, and I didn’t need words. I knew exactly what he was thinking.

I pushed myself up on my toes, twisting around to reach his face. I kissed him softly at first, then I licked his lips, the sharpness of his teeth cushioned against mine.

“Let’s head back to our room and give the city what it needs.” I stepped back, his hand in mine, and I tried to draw him with me across the cage.

“We’re not going anywhere,” he murmured from behind me, his voice low, hunger already in his tone. He stood still, pausing my attempt to guide him. Before I could get a word out, his woodsy, masculine scent slammed into me.

My knees weakened, and an inferno unfurled in waves through me. It was a small miracle that I didn’t just throw myself at him.

He flashed me a grin, and I might have melted. This was the thing that didn’t make sense to me… there wasn’t a lack of sensual arousal between us or sex. Just thinking of my dream with him the other night sent my heart racing, but if the city demanded I get fucked more often by four sinful monsters, I guess I’d take one for the team.

There was no time to feel shy about Creed intending to do it here in this cage, not when he drew me back to his side, our bodies clashing. I squeezed my thighs together, flaming the building ache.

I took a deep breath, and on the exhale, whispered, “I’ll do whatever it takes to help the population.”

Before I was aware, Creed lifted me off my feet, his mouth crashing to mine, my heart thumping. Not a single thought beyond the way he kissed me with a sinful mix of gentleness and forcefulness, his tongue exploring every inch of my mouth. He knew how quickly his kisses left me weak-kneed and utter putty in his hands. When he captured my lower lip into his mouth, sucking on it, he gave it a light bite with his teeth.
