I gazed over at the guys and took a stutter step back when I realized all their attention was on me. And the looks on their faces were so…hopeful? I wasn’t sure what that was all about.
Drakon took that moment to step forward, carrying a small jewelry box type item in his hands. The material of the box resembled red stained glass. It matched the rest of their decor perfectly.
“There is no way for us to repay you the gift you have given us,” he murmured, Rachidra and Cyprus’s rapt attention on the two of us. “But we’d like to give you this gift as a token of our appreciation.” Drakon slowly undid the lid, revealing a gold knife with a ruby-encrusted hilt. It was gorgeous…and extremely expensive looking. “This has been in my family for thousands of years. It is said to give good luck to whoever bears it.” I opened my mouth to object to the gift. All I’d done was have really good sex with my monsters, not anything to deserve this overwhelmingly beautiful gift.
I felt Creed’s dark, overwhelming presence behind me. “Accept this gift, Pet. You would put shame on his whole household were you to reject it,” he murmured.
Oh fuck. I definitely didn’t want that.
I reached out my hands for the box and all three monsters’ shoulders slumped with relief.
“Thank you so much for this gift, and for inviting us into your home. Your family is beautiful,” I said softly, my voice thick with emotion.
Cyprus burst into tears, lightening the mood as everyone chuckled at him—well, Rachidra, Drakon, and I chuckled; the rest of my monsters just looked a little less scary.
Or maybe that was just in my head.
“We need to be on our way,” Creed said in that demanding way of his, as he nodded at Drakon and placed his hand on my back to usher me toward the door. Rachidra’s face fell at his pronouncement…and then Cyprus began to cry hard.
“I’ll definitely be back if you’ll have me,” I spit out quickly, overwhelmed with how happy their expressions were after I said that.
I didn’t think I would get used to this…people—creatures—actually wanting to be around me. I mean, it was mostly about sex and the lust energy I was providing everyone, but hey, to have anyone liking me at all felt good.
Creed led me to the entrance and then out into the street, which had filled with even more monsters, and all I could think was…so this was what happiness felt like.
The only thing that could make it better was if Steele was here.
I was going to have to work on that.
CHAPTER 6
BLAKE
“Hi baby,” Steele’s voice murmured as my eyes opened. I cried out when I realized I wasn’t in my bed where I’d fallen asleep wrapped around Ash…I was in a small pool of water surrounded by lush palm trees…
And I was completely naked, the warm water a soft, perfect caress against my skin.
“Just a dream,” he said, coming up behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist.
Right…because he was in a monster prison in real life.
I turned in his embrace and threw my arms around his neck.
“Steele! I’ve been so worried about you! Are you okay? Are they torturing you down there?” I asked urgently, searching his face for any signs of trauma.
We had so much to talk about. He had a lot to explain. But before all of that, I needed to make sure he was alright. He’d been the one source of light in my life for many years.
That didn’t change overnight.
“I’m fine. It takes more than a dungeon to take me down, baby.” His voice sent shivers through my insides. I reached up and pushed some of his raven-colored hair out of his face, those arctic blue eyes staring at me as if I held his soul in my hands.
“You’re so beautiful, Blake.” His lips grazed my shoulder and a soft moan slipped from my lips. I shook my head, trying to concentrate…but it was hard when his every move seemed intent on trying to seduce me.
“Creed won’t talk to me about you at all. Every time I mention your name, he closes off.”
“Mmmh. I have a plan,” he replied, his tongue joining his lips as he moved them from my shoulder to my neck…and then made his way up.
“Well, do you need any help?”
