"Igor knows that you have compellers. He might suspect that you compelled the Safe Haven doctor to send the referral to the cardiologist, and since you are coming with me, they might suspect that you compelled that doctor as well."
"Good point. We should also plant some fake test results to make it look more legit." She dialed Julian's number again.
"What did you forget?" the doctor asked.
"Sofia pointed out that Igor knows we have compellers, so having a couple of doctors write fake diagnoses is not a problem for us. Can you have Roni plant fake test results in the cardiologist's files?"
Julian groaned. "I can probably get some, but it's not something that I can do in the next hour or two. When are you seeing the cardiologist?"
"In about three hours. I can also compel him to swap results with another patient or copy them and put them in Sofia's file."
"That would be much easier. Don't have him swap, though. Just copy them. We don't want to endanger someone's life."
"Got it. Thanks, Julian." She ended the call, pushed to her feet, and put the phone in the pocket of her jacket. "You didn't say anything about my new look." She turned in a circle.
Sofia frowned. "I don't think that my hairstyle looks good on you."
That wasn't nice. Eleanor thought that she looked great with her hair pinned up. "It's not about looking good. I just need to look like you from a distance."
"No, you don't." Sofia put her hand on her hip. "Since we've decided that I'm going too and you don't need to pretend to be me, what's the point?"
Eleanor shrugged. "I put a lot of effort into making myself look like you, and I didn't want to let it go to waste."
"Are we ready to go?" Marcel asked.
"We are." Eleanor picked the cat off the windowsill and turned to Leon. "Are your guys ready?"
"They are waiting for you in the parking garage."
"Good. I hope Cecilia behaves and doesn't pee or puke in the car. Cats are not fond of moving vehicles, and Emmett will be furious if she has an accident in his Lamborghini." Eleanor handed the bundle of fur to Sofia. "You hold her."
"I'm prepared in case she has an accident." Sofia scratched under Cecelia's chin. "I put a couple of towels in my bag to put over my legs during the drive."
"Good thinking." Leon opened the door for them. "Have fun, kids."
"Thank you, Daddy." Eleanor blew him an air kiss.
"It's going to look strange," Marcel said. "Why would people take a cat to a cardiologist's office?"
"People do all kinds of crazy things." Eleanor started pulling out the pins that were holding her hair up. "Maybe we will have the cat's heart checked. I can pretend to be an eccentric cat owner who wants her cat treated by a human doctor."
Sofia chuckled. "You can just thrall them to ignore Cecilia. We don't want anything to seem unusual about my doctor's visit."
Marcel shook his head. "If we pick up a tail, and they are Kra-ell, I can't thrall them not to see the cat, and we are doing all this to flush them out. Maybe we should leave Cecilia in the car with Asher."
"That will look even weirder," Eleanor said. "It doesn't make sense for Sofia's guard to stay in the car while she goes to see the doctor."
Everyone in Safe Haven knew that Eleanor was with Emmett. That was why they were taking Emmett's new Lamborghini, and the Guardian was posing as himself, a guard to watch over Sofia. The doctor's visit needed to look legit, but all the rest needed to look suspicious enough for the tail to get intrigued and follow them all the way to the beach house.
It would have been even better if Emmett had accompanied them, but that was too dangerous.
Keeping his real identity a secret was crucial.
It was a mess, and despite the cheerful attitude Eleanor fronted, she was worried about her and Emmett's future in Safe Haven.
Unless they eliminated Igor, Kian would order all the immortals to leave the resort. She would have to find a solution for her paranormals, and the clan would have to move the expensive equipment they'd put in the lab out of there.
Emmett would be devastated, and she didn't have an alternative solution for him. They couldn't uproot the community and have it move to a different location, and even if they could, it wouldn't make a difference. The community members depended on the income generated from the retreats, and if they kept running them in a different location, they would be easy to find.
