Having finished the noodles, she picks up the spoon to scoop the broth, which is time consuming.
“You can drink it straight from the bowl,” I tell her.
“I’m good with the spoon,” she responds.
“Fancy table manners aren’t required here.”
She looks around but doesn’t see anyone else lifting their bowls, though a couple of the college students are holding their bowls while they slurp and shovel their noodles. “I’m okay.”
I stare at her. “Do it.”
“Do…what?”
“Put your spoon down and drink from the bowl.”
“I don’t need to finish—”
I raise a brow. She understands my expression.
“Yes, Sir.”
Setting down the spoon, she lifts the bowl to her mouth and takes a good gulp.
“Finish it,” I order her when she puts the bowl down.
Without protest, she does what I tell her. The waitress comes by to refill my tea.
“You finish fast,” she remarks to Casey of the now empty bowl.
“It was delicious. Can I get one to go?” Casey inquires.
The waitress nods and leaves. We hear her shouting the order to the kitchen.
Casey turns to me. “So, were you serious about that kidnapping stuff?”
“Why, you interested?”
She tucks a tendril of hair behind her ear. “Maybe.”
“You want to be kidnapped?”
“Sounds like it could be fun.”
I study her. It could be fun, like she said. Certainly more fun than kidnapping her father, but Liam keeps four bodyguards with him at all times. If this were the streets of Juarez or Kuala Lumpur, I might have considered it more seriously, but getting the jump on four guys without attracting attention is harder to pull off in the US. Connor Callaghan only has two bodyguards but is in Ireland right now. The wife and Casey only have one each.
And Casey wants me to kidnap her. So why not?

“I know it could be fun,” Casey says when I don’t respond. “You ever done it before?”
“No.”
“So here’s your chance to try something new.”
I stall. “I don’t know. We just met. Are you even actually twenty-one?”
