I nodded. “So your fears that you’re gonna put me off are groundless. You’re telling it like it is, how you need things to be, and it all sounds pretty goddamn perfect to me.”

Robert came to a halt. He leaned on his pommel, his gaze locked on mine. “Then wearegoing to—”

“Fuck?” I grinned. “Count on it.”

His breathing hitched. “Again, good to know.” He cleared his throat, and resumed his trot. “Then I guess there’s something else we need to discuss. Protection. Unless this all sounds way too clinical and detached to you.”

“Hell no.” I smiled. “You’re talking my language.” He was a Dominant’s dream—a guy who wanted to talk first—even if he did turn out to be vanilla.

And how would I feel about that?

All the guys I went with on a regular basis were kinky as fuck. Getting into bed with someone who might be vanilla… I wasn’t sure if I could turn off the Dominant in me. I’d never even bothered trying.

There was a voice in my head, that of Dale Myers, the Dom who’d first showed me the ropes.

Everyone has a kink, Toby—you just have to work out what it is.

And maybe I’d have some fun trying to work out what Robert’s was. In the meantime, I could do vanilla. I smiled to myself. Judging by the way my dick was growing harder by the second, a vanilla fuck would be no problem at all.

Then I realized Robert was still talking.

“Good. Because—for reasons I’m not going to explain either—I prefer to be frank and open about things like this.”

This was getting better and better. “I’m all about communication. I’m going to assume you know what PrEP is.”

“And you’d be right. Kevin and I discussed it once. But we didn’t see the need. It was just us. Neither of us wanted to bring anyone in from outside.”

“What about testing?”

“He made sure we got tested regularly, at a clinic in Bozeman. We didn’t use condoms.”

“I think condoms can be kinda sexy,” I said with a grin. “But that’s just me. I’ve got a thing for rubber.”

He bit his lip. “Yeah, I saw the photos.”

I had to think for a minute what else was in those photos—and how much they said about me. Something else occurred to me.Did they turn him on—or off?

I needed a hint.

“See anything you liked?”

For a moment I wasn’t sure if he’d respond. Then he shivered. “You’ve got a thing for leather too, don’t you?”

Oh,nowhe had me intrigued. “You noticed.”

Robert snorted. “Kinda hard to miss it.” Then he shifted in his saddle, and I had what I was looking for.

Inside I was buzzing.

“But… I don’t have any. Condoms, I mean.”

I smiled. “I do. I found some freebies in my suitcase, stuff they were giving out at Pride. Enough to last us one night at least.”

“You went looking for condoms? When was this?”

I wasn’t going to lie. “The night I discovered you were gay.” I smiled. “Just in case I got lucky. A guy can dream, right?”

He shivered. “Thank God for Pride.”
