Damn it. Where was a glass when I needed one?
She grinned. “Surprise. I haven’t been to one of these in a while.” She arched her eyebrows. “You don’t mind, do you?”
And what was I supposed to say to that?‘Yeah, actually, Idomind, because the thought of sitting at the same table as you while Toby sends vibrations buzzing through my ass and balls is horrifying.’Especially now I knew that thing was definitelynotquiet.
Fuck. My dick was like a rock at the prospect, and that wiped away any doubts I had that I wasn’t kind of… excited to be doing this.
I glanced at Toby, then back to Diana. “No, of course not.”
Toby was grinning, the bastard.
Yeah, you can see I’m not backing down, can’t you?
Bring. It. On.
“Supper’s on the table, guys,” Matt called out. “And there’s plenty more in the kitchen.”
“Great. I’m starving,” Butch declared.
“You’re always starving,” Teague said with a grin.
“And your point is?” Butch gestured to his large frame. “You wanna know how much food it takes to keep me looking this awesome?”
The rest of the banter went pretty much over my head. All I could think about was that massager wedged in my ass—and what Toby was going to do with the remote.
The food was excellent as usual, the conversation just as lively, but all the same, it was excruciating torture. I kept waiting for that initial buzz, those rhythmic pulses. I even wondered if he’d switched it to voice activation, but there was zilch. Toby didn’t sit near me, but at the other end of the table, watching me. Every now and then, his hands would dip under the table, and I’d freeze, but nothing happened. Half an hour after we’d sat to eat, I was still anticipating.
Yeah this was torture.
Toby
I was so fixated on Robert, I didn’t realize I was being addressed by his sister. “I’m sorry,” I apologized. “I must have zoned out for a moment there.”I was too busy watching your brother.
Damn, this was fun. My game ofnow you see them, now you don’twith my hands must’ve driven him to distraction.
“So… you’re from San Francisco?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
She snorted. “I’m Diana, okay?Ma’ammakes me feel as old as Methuselah.”
“Trust me, you don’t look it.”
Diana chuckled. “And you have a smooth tongue.” There was a look of Robert about her, and I got the impression they shared a similar sense of humor. “How’s your stay been so far?”
“It’s been great, although I’m sure the best is yet to come.” When she gave me a speculative glance, I smiled. “The cattle drive next week.”
“We leave on Monday, early,” Teague told her. Then with a smile, he added, “Robert’s going too.”
Diana turned her head slowly to stare at her brother. “Oh really?”
“Yeah.” Butch helped himself to the last hunk of cornbread. “Maybe not being carried off by a flash flood has given him a new lease of life. Becausesomethingsure has.” His eyes twinkled. “Wonder what that could be?”
Her eyes widened. “What’s this about a flood?” She glared at Robert. “Did you get caught up in that? You didn’t tell me.”
“That’s because there was nothing to tell,” he retorted.
Zeeb gave her a précis of what had happened on Thursday, and all of a sudden, all traces of anger and concern faded. She regarded Robert, her eyes dancing with amusement. “So you and Toby got stranded up at Mirror Lake all night? How… cozy.”
