“Let’s all get some sleep. I’ll take these contents with me back to my hotel and put a case together and then call my contact right away in the morning.” Kurt stands, grabbing all the contents and putting it back into the boxes. “When the sun rises, you two need to move. Don’t stay here much longer. We don’t know what Marcus is up to and we don’t know if he’s got eyes out for you two.”

“You can come stay with me,” Mom offers.

“No,” Kurt immediately answers. “If Marcus knows you’re in town, you’ll be the first person he’ll keep tabs on to see if Gabe comes near you.”

I nod. “He’s right. We’ll leave first thing in the morning. There’s another motel a few towns away that is better hidden from the main highway.”

“Perfect. Get some rest and we’ll be in contact.” Kurt pulls out his wallet and hands me a small wad of cash. “You’ll need this to check into your next room.”

“Thank you.”

I hug my mom and then turn to Maggie. “I’m so sorry my father has made your life a living hell.” And then I remember a birth certificate in the box and whisper, “I’m sorry that he fathered Rachael and you’re having to deal with the consequences from him.”

Her entire body stiffens in my embrace before she leans back and looks at me. “Thank you, Gabe. We’ll all take him down. I have proof of my own that I’ll put on the table.”

Surprised, I watch her face turn to Kurt before my mother calls for her to come with her. And before too long, the room is quiet and we’re plunged into silence. Everything happened so quickly and then it was over. I want to pace back and forth, but I know it won’t do any good. Instead, I walk up to Bentley and frame her face with my hands.

“You’re absolutely insane, but I love you for it.”

She lightly giggles, burrowing her face into my chest as she wraps her arms around me. “I love you, Gabe. I couldn’t sit here and do nothing while Marcus got away with things once again.”

“Let’s go to bed, babe. We need to get up early and get out of here.”

I kiss her hard, moving from her top lip to her bottom without using any tongue. There won’t be a day where I won’t want her sexually, but this moment isn’t right for that.

Chapter forty

Bentley

The early morning sunrays burst through the motel curtains and wake me from a sweet slumber. It feels as if I’d just fallen asleep moments before, and I just want to roll over and curl into Gabe while I fall back asleep, but I know we need to get moving. I roll to my right and look right into Gabe’s sleeping face, noting that he’s back to looking stress-free and happy. The moment I wake him, that will all go away.

I snuggle up to him and inhale the familiar scent of Gabe that I’ve come to love. He always smells earthy with a faint hint of a sweet cologne. I’ll probably remember this smell for the rest of my life, and it makes me feel all warm inside. There isn’t anything like this feeling in the world and only Gabe can make these emotions come out of me.

My hand instinctively runs up his spine as I trace several of his back tattoos before I nuzzle my face into his shoulder.

"Baby," I whisper gently so I won't startle him awake. "We need to go."

His sleepy grunt replies to me, but he won't budge. I watch his breathing fall back into a deep rhythm and know he’s fallen back to sleep. Trust me, I want to keep sleeping as well but I want out of here even more. Marcus can be very intelligent when he wants to be, and I don't want him to find us because we’re too sleepy to get out of bed.

"Baby, come on. We need to move before you know who shows up."

That gets him. His eyes shoot wide open before his gaze connects with mine. If we weren't in such a hurry to leave, I'd have crawled onto him and taken full advantage, and he'd have let me. There is something about his eyes that sucks me in like a moth to a flame. Gabe rules my entire existence and my love for this man bursts out of every pore.

I get out of bed and start to get dressed as Gabe rolls onto his back and watches me. A giggle leaves my chest when I look at him. It’s obvious he’s undressing me with his eyes, and it totally distracts me.

"You're not helping, Gabe. Get that hot ass out of bed and let's go." I smirk as I tug his shirt up and over my head. My bare breasts are open for him to see, and he looks at me with a brazen fire in his gaze.

Then he looks over at the clock on the bedside table and grins. “We’ve got a few minutes, don’t we?”

I laugh. “No, we need to go.”

I reach into my bag and tug out a fresh shirt, but before I can tug it on over my head, Gabe has moved from his spot and grabs me around the waist. He pulls me toward the end of the bed between his legs before he laps over one of my nipples. My backarches and pushes my breasts into his face as my nipple feels like it’s going to burst.

“Gabe,” I moan when I try to scold him.

He knows what he does to my body and it’s always hard to say no to him. The way he makes me feel emotionally is nothing compared to how he makes me feel physically. There might be danger right on our tail, but refusing my body’s lust for him is something I can’t ignore.

His tongue laps over my other nipple as his hands skim up my bare thighs, gripping the hem of my panties. Moaning against my nipple, I grip his biceps and try to calm the storm brewing between my legs. My pussy throbs for his attention and makes my nipples nearly burst.
