“I do! Oh God, I do!”
She throws her arms around my neck again as she crawls into my lap, crashing her lips onto mine. Our tongues taste and tease between moans, and it’s so hard not to tear her clothes off and make sweet love to her right now. We make out like a bunch of horny teenagers, clawing at one another as my cock grows two sizes larger in my jeans. I need her like I need my next breath, but I know it isn’t smart while Marcus is down the hall.
I break our kiss, pressing my forehead against hers. Leaving her here is going to be one of the hardest things I’ve ever had todo, but I have to. I’ll be back soon, and I won't leave her next time.
Grabbing her phone next to the bed, I punch in my new number and hide my identity under a different name, grinning when I show it to her. I typed in “Kitty” for a reference to our last time together at The Kitten’s Lair. She giggles before she leans forward and kisses me once more.
“Marcus will be back to work tomorrow. Come back around ten and I’ll sneak you in through the basement.”
I grab her jaw and kiss her hard as I savor her mouth, but know I need to get out of here before it’s too late.
Breaking the kiss, I still hold her jaw as we stare into each other’s eyes.
“I love you, Bentley,” I whisper out as my heart does a backflip.
I’ve never used those words with anyone besides my mother, and it feels right. I’m madly, stupidly in love with this woman and I’ll do anything to make her mine.
A single tear slides down her cheek as a sweet smile tugs at her lips.
“I love you back, Gabe Price.”
Hearing those words from her lips and her full use of my name makes me want to scream from the rooftops. I’ve never been in love before and I’m pretty sure a woman has never loved me either. Knowing Bentley loves me too is the best feeling in the world. She’s my everything now.
I kiss her sweet lips one last time before I march to her bedroom door and slip back into the hallway before I disappear down the stairs. With no money left for another Uber ride, I walk to the nearest public transit station and grin the entire way. Bentley loves me back.
Chapter thirty
Bentley
Maggie’s making her famous cinnamon rolls, and I’m transfixed on her motions. Her hands delicately roll the fresh dough into the cinnamon batter before she rolls them perfectly and sets them on a baking sheet. I could watch Maggie cook all day long. She’s old school and cooks everything from scratch and watching her keeps my mind away from the man upstairs.
No words are exchanged between us, but I can feel Maggie's gaze lift to mine every so often. I know she wants to say something but neither of us dare in fear Marcus will be right around the corner. Until he’s gone, our lips are sealed.
I know the moment Marcus enters the kitchen. Every hair on my neck stands on end and fear grips my chest. His demeanorseems cranky this morning, and I don't want to push him over the edge so I stay quietly on the stool and continue to watch Maggie roll the dough.
"Good morning," Marcus greets Maggie while not looking at me once.
I’m fine with it. As far as my husband’s concerned, he can go back to ignoring my existence and I'd be fine with it.
"Good morning, sir," Maggie greets back with her head down. It’s a shame she’s just as frightened by him as I am.
"I'm heading back to work today," Marcus states as he finally turns to look at me with his fresh cup of coffee in his hand. "What are your plans for the day?"
I nibble my bottom lip, unsure how to lie to him. Most days I do nothing. Being married to a control freak doesn't leave me with very many options. He knows I don't have friends anymore, so why ask a stupid question?
"I'll be here as always," I reply.
He eyes me suspiciously before he sips his coffee. What is that all about? I don’t think I said or did anything to make him suspicious, did I?
“Make sure she doesn’t leave this mansion, Maggie. Your job depends on it.” He turns back to the coffee pot as I throw daggers at him.
How dare he say I can’t leave the mansion? I’m his wife! Not his prisoner. What a pompous asshole! But what he doesn’t know is I don’t need to leave the mansion. As soon as he leaves, I’ll sneak Gabe back inside and continue my affair with his son until we figure out how to get me the hell out of here.
Maggie’s gaze drifts up to mine and we have an unspoken understanding. If she wasn’t team Gabe, she wouldn’t have shown up at his apartment last night and slipped him a spare key to the basement door. Once Marcus is gone, I’ll ask her about it.
I want a shower before Gabe shows up, but before I can fully slide off the stool, Marcus is there with his arms tightly wrapped around my waist. My entire body freezes as he nuzzles his face into my neck as he tries to be all sweet on me.
"You know that I love you, right?"
