“However.”
His gaze snaps to my face.
“I got over it pretty quickly. I had a chat with Isabelle, and she told me not to worry about it because everyone is just jealous. And then she made a valid point.”
He quirks an eyebrow. “Which is?”
Taking in his smoldering eyes, his chiseled, sexily stubbled jaw, and his impressively toned torso, I let a sly grin lift my lips. “Youaretotal Daddy material.”
Rowan’s jaw drops. “What?”
“And with your kinks, I completely agree. Sometimes, when you spank me, I’m tempted to call you ‘Daddy.’”
His eyes widen and I struggle to keep a straight face.
Shrugging, I add, “So, I just laughed off the whole sugar baby thing.”
He continues to stare at me in disbelief. Then his lips twitch, and he clears his throat loudly. There’s a suspicious shaking of his shoulders as he rubs his jaw.
I purse my lips to hold back my amusement. He’s trying so hard not to laugh, and that tickles me.
Eventually, he loses it and starts to roar. His laughter wraps around me, drawing out my giggles. I’veneverseen him laugh this hard, and it’s a little shocking. Every time he glances at me and tries to respond, he dissolves into more laughter.
I’m confident we’ll get through the temporary hurdles in our lives. We just need to see things with a little humor.
Chapter 5
Rowan
Grace and I got throughthis week a little easier after we talked—and laughed—about some of the media speculation. So, while I’m happy to be getting out and finally going to work, I hate leaving Grace. Admittedly, I’ve come to depend on her humor and effervescence. She has enough for the both of us, it seems.
I step out of the shower and wrap a towel around my hips before heading to the bedroom. Grace and I just had breakfast and now I’m preparing to head out. Reaching around my packed bag on the floor, I grab my boxers.
“Don’t you dare put those on.”
I spin around, eyebrows raised at Grace’s stern order. Immediately, my jaw drops and my eyes bulge.
