When it fades and he continues to stare at me, I ask, “What?”
“I’ve never had this much fun with anyone. You make me feel like I’m twenty-one again.”
Smiling, I lose myself in his now-twinkling blue gaze. Just when I’m about to throw caution to the wind and tell him I love him, I hear someone call, “Grace?”
I gasp. “It’s Isabelle.”
“Shit.” Rowan lowers me to my feet and pulls his pants up. Then he snatches up my underwear and hands it to me.
“She’s out here. I heard her.” That’s my sister’s sidekick.
“What would she be doing out here? It’s freezing,” one of the other girls says. I think that’s Emily’s voice. I’m finally learning their names.
“I can’t believe she thinks she can ditch my party,” Isabelle huffs.
Rolling my eyes, I scramble to get my panties on. Before I can step into my pants, Isabelle appears at the entrance to the garden. “What is going on?”
Rowan spins around, his body blocking me from the curious gazes. “Ladies,” he greets.
I hear the laughter in his voice. Of course, he isn’t as embarrassed as I am.
Peeking around his back, I smile sheepishly at the girls. “Hey, guys.”
There are snickers and knowing looks from everyone but Isabelle. She looks pissed.
Chapter 9
Grace
“Ican’t imagine whatreason you have to be upset,” I tell my sister as she paces in the kitchen. Rowan left ten minutes ago, and she sent the other girls upstairs as if she’s the queen of the manor.
“You left my bachelorette party to canoodle with your boyfriend.”
I laugh at the word “canoodle.” “We did a hell of a lot more than that.”
Isabelle glares. “What has gotten into you?”
