I crack open an eyelid at his heated tone, finding his incensed gaze on me as my lips lift in a playful smile. “You think you’ve got another round in you?”

Hawk scoffs, looking highly offended as he lifts my leg to rest over his hip and uses the angle to thrust inside me. I can already feel his dick waking up for round two. “When it comes to you, I could go all night.”

My grin is wide and sated, as I lean in to give him a tender kiss. One he happily deepens as he cups the back of my head, preventing me from escaping as he rolls onto his back, taking me with him.

“This has to go,” he orders, tapping a finger on my dress. “I want you completely naked while you ride my cock.” Laughing, I do as he says, and we spend the next few hours intimately committing each other’s bodies to memory, until we’re both too tired to move.

Later that night, I’m curled up in his arms, sated and happier than I ever remember being. “Why do you call me Little Sparrow?” I question, chewing on my bottom lip.

“Mmm?” he mumbles, clearly half asleep. I don’t repeat the question, instead waiting him out, and deciding if he doesn’t answer the question then maybe I’m better off not knowing. At least for tonight.

Eventually he asks in a husky voice, “Do you know what sparrows symbolize?”

“No?”

“They represent pleasure and happiness. They are all about finding joy in the little things in life.”

I frown, unsure how that relates to me. “And I’m your sparrow?”

He kisses the top of my head, pulling me tighter against him as he murmurs. “You’re my sparrow.”

Chapter23

EMILIA

Iwake with a smile on my face, my eyes still shut as I stretch out in bed. I think that was the best night’s sleep I’ve ever had.

“Well, don’t you look far too comfy.”

My eyes snap open, my hands flying to tuck the sheet around my naked body as my bewildered gaze lands on Wilder. He’s leaning against the bedroom door, his arms folded and his posture appearing far too casual considering the wicked gleam in his eyes and the cruel curve of his lip.

He’s working hard toappearcasual, but inside, he’s furious.

Oh, fuck.

“What are you doing in here?” I seethe irritably, darting my gaze to the other side of the bed and finding it empty.Where the hell is Hawk?

“Thought someone was being murdered in here last night. Thought I should do my due diligence and see if that was actually the case.”

“Well, as you can see, everything is fine, so feel free to show yourself out.”

His smirk only deepens. “Nah, I think I’ll stay.”

“Get out, Wilder,” I snap, my good mood officially ruined.

He scoffs with derision. “You can’t tell me what to do. This ismyhouse.”

“Yeah, and this ismybedroom, whichHawkoffered to me. So I’ll say again, get out.”

“So crabby this morning.” Wilder fake pouts. “I guess last night wasn’t all you’d hoped it would be.” He pointedly glances at the empty spot beside me on the bed before wincing. “Can’t have been that good for him either if he snuck out before you woke up.”

“That’s not…”

The protest dies on my lips, doubt taking root.

Is that what he did?Last night was…everythingI hoped it would be, but perhaps that wasn’t the case for Hawk.

Wilder snorts. “Sure it’s not. Classic Hawk M.O. Let me guess, he saw you all dressed up last night and spouted some pretty words to lower your guard and make you fall into bed with him.”
