Christy knocked quietly on the bedroom door before entering.
"Hey there... how are you feeling?"
"Better, you can come in." Andie responded. "So how much trouble are you in with Mike?"
"You could hear him?"
"This place is big, but not so big that I can't hear him yelling at someone. I'm sorry for putting you in that position, Christy. I'm sure I have made a wonderful first impression." She said covering her face with her hands.
Christy approached the bed and sat down, placing a hand on Andie's leg. "Hey, hey no worrying about any of that. Us girls need to stick together. Besides, I can handle Mike, it's my husband who looks terrified." She laughed.
"Ugh, the last thing I want to do is cause problems for everyone."
"Andie, listen... Mike and Jason fight like school girls. There is nothing to be concerned about other than you and your little baby. How did it go with Bella?"
"I like her a lot, and it looks like we are okay for now." She said reaching for her little baby bump. "It's so scary Christy, how am I ever going to make it through this whole pregnancy?"
"You're preaching to the choir, sister. I'm also probably the worst person to ask. I barely left our apartment for nine months. There is a lot about my story I haven't shared, but I was pregnant once before and had a miscarriage. It was terrifying being pregnant again, but so worth it. My little girl brings us so much joy, just like your son will for you."
"Son?"
"You have to have a boy. I need a good man to marry my daughter." She said with a wink. "I'm going to let you get some sleep, it's pretty late and I have to go check on our guys. I'll come down tomorrow to see you and make sure that Neanderthal in the living room hasn't locked you in a cage."
Christy leaned forward, giving Andie a quick hug, and headed out to check on the guys.
"She's about to fall asleep, and I need to head upstairs to check on our daughter. Are you staying down here for a bit?" Christy asked Jason while noting the distance between both of the men.
"Ya, I think so."
She leaned forward and gave him a quick kiss, "Alright then, you two kiss and make up. I'm heading out."
Christy approached Mike and gave him a big hug, "I'm sorry for keeping everything from you tonight. I love you like you're my own brother, but sometimes us girls come first."
"You're not forgiven." he grunted.
"That's okay. You'll forgive me someday." She winked and headed for the door.
"This was a close one." Jason said as he watched his wife head out.
"A bit too close."
"Are you okay? I mean really, are you guys going to be okay?"
"Come out to the balcony, I want to see Andie while we talk." Jason followed Mike through the large glass doors that opened to a balcony that stretched the length of the building. Once they settled in at the table where Mike could watch Andie sleep through the window of their bedroom, he turned to Jason and shook his head.
"I've seen and been through so much shit in my life, but I have never been as scared as I was tonight." He paused and looked at Jason, "I really think I love her."
"I know you do; we were all just waiting for you to admit it."
"It makes absolutely no sense! We just met, a one-night stand followed by having a child together. It all happened so quickly. People don't fall in love that fast, do they?"
"Bro, I am the worst person to ask about this. You know how many years it took me to find Christy again and realize I had loved her for my entire life. I think these things just creep up on you. There is no right or wrong way to fall in love. Nor is there a time line it's supposed to follow. It's like suddenly you just wake up and realize your life was nothing before she showed up, and it would be nothing again if she ever left."
"I guess you're right."
"The question is, how does she feel about you?"
"I have absolutely no idea."
