"I don't even know. I thought I was fine, but then it all happened so quick."

"Okay, let's get you into a warm bath. After that, I'll pull some breakfast together. Maybe just some dry toast for you, though."

Before long Mike had a bath drawn for Andie, and she was soaking comfortably. He knew she would be out soon and realized she had no clothes with her. Which meant she was probably going to want to leave again, and he couldn't let that happen. If nothing else, he needed her to stay until the doctor got there. Then they could ride back to her place and get a bag with her things. Mike decided he would send the guys over to pack up the rest of her apartment and move everything here. Well, at least that was the plan in his mind. He was really hoping she would be okay with it. In the meantime, he needed clothes for her.

He called upstairs to Christy again.

"Hey, I need a huge favor. Can I borrow some clothes?"

"I don't think you will fit into my jeans," she smarted off at him.

"Shut it, Christy. They are for Andie. I'm not ready for her to leave yet, and she has nothing to change into."

"Obsess much?"

"Annoy much? Are you going to help me out or what?"

"Yes, I'll be right down. And Mike?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you ready to admit yet that you're in love with the woman carrying your child?"

And that's when he hung up on his best friend's wife.

Ten minutes later, the elevator dinged. Jason and Christy were just one floor above him, so he didn't expect it to take long. Christy was standing there with an obnoxious pink bag overflowing with clothes.

"Geez, I just need a pair of jeans and a top for her."

"I didn't know her size or style, so I grabbed her a few different things to choose from." Unfortunately, he could tell by the look on her face she had more to say. "Do you know why I don't know her size or style, Mike? Because I haven't met her. I mean, you're clearly crazy about her. Jason and Red both told me how much you have gone on about her for the last few weeks, and now she is here and I want to meet her. She must be pretty special to have tied you down," she finished with a smirk and a hand on her hip.

"Seriously? Not now. In fact, you have got to go. She is going to get out of the bath soon and I don't want her finding me fighting with some crazy woman in my entryway."

"Okay, fine, here is the bag." She pushed it in his direction and headed for the elevator. As the door was about to close, she said, "Congrats Daddy!" And with those simple words his entire world suddenly seemed to make perfect sense. He was a Daddy.

Chapter Fifteen

Andiefeltlikeshewas in some alternate reality. It was like she fell out of the sky and into a romance novel. She dried herself off after getting herself cleaned up and relished in the soreness she felt all over her body. Mike was gentle with her, but she felt as if she had been thoroughly loved. Standing in front of the floor to ceiling bathroom mirror, she looked at her reflection and lifted her hand to her belly. She had no idea what she was going to do, but she loved her little baby the second she found out she was pregnant.

Yesterday was a whirlwind. She was so stressed and so tired that she just gave into Mike's every request. Today would not go that way. She realized she had not one scrap of clean clothes, so she picked up Mike's t-shirt off of the bench in the bathroom and pulled it on. It was too big and came down to her knees, but at least it covered her. She needed to find her jeans, grab her purse and get back to her apartment. Knowing she had to work tonight was making her anxious; she wanted to get home and rest before her shift. She was thankful Diane continued to call with odd jobs, but they were exhausting. She needed to get her thoughts together and talk to Avery.

She didn't want to be nine months pregnant and living alone; the truth was she probably couldn't have afforded even to if she wanted to. She needed to move out of her place and into her sister's apartment. Since their mother passed away, they had been nearly inseparable, as most twins were. This was one of those moments in life she was beyond grateful to have such a close relationship with her sister. She walked into the bedroom and shot a text message off to Avery.

Andie: Hey girl, will you be around later? Need to talk.

Avery: For you? Yup. For anyone else? Nope. I'm hiding.

Andie: Sounds like there is a story there. Can you meet me at my place, I should be home in an hour?

Avery: Where are you?

Andie: I'll fill you in when I see you.

Mike walked into the bedroom holding a ridiculous pink bag and found Andie standing by the bed in one of his t-shirts. She was downright beautiful. It looked like she was packing up her things and he wasn't ready for her to go.

"Hey, what are you doing out of the tub so fast? I haven't finished breakfast."

The thought of breakfast made her stomach rumble loud enough for him to hear. He threw the pink bag on the bed and came up behind her, pulling her to him. He reached his hands to where their baby lay and said, "My little one is hungry."
