“He took me because of you.” He said it softly, but fuck… if that didn’t feel like a goddamn knife in my heart. I knew it was true, but hearing him say that to me made it really hit home. “To get you for himself. That’s what he told me after he killed Mom.”

I swallowed hard, “I’m sorry, Thomas, so sorry.”

“He made me watch him rape and kill people after making them over to look like you. He called out your name when he—”

“Do you remember where you were held? Anything about it?” Vas cut in, his voice uncharacteristically soft.

“It was a warehouse… I think. Surrounded by a bunch of other buildings just like it. When I got away, I ran. I didn’t look back or anything. I just wanted to get away.”

“It’s okay. That’s fine,” Vas assured him as he came closer, squatting down to look less intimidating. “Anything you remember is helpful.”

“Wrenn is dead,” Thomas said sadly. I closed my eyes and turned my face away, hoping to school my expression before anyone saw it.

Wrenn.I had loved her once, but while some of the bitterness of our time together had faded, it wasn't enough to make me love her again. My role in her death couldn’t be downplayed. If I hadn't lost it and shot her, she might still be alive right now.Though Thomas might not be.That thought alone ensured I would never regret what I had done. “She told me where to find you and your boyfriends.”

I choked on a laugh and looked at Vas and Sacha before switching back to Thomas again. “That’s weird hearing someone else say it.”

“Are you saying we aren’t?” Vas rumbled, all deliciously grumpy, as he glared at me. He wasn’t actually angry though. A spark of amusement was bright in his brown eyes.

“Have I called you boyfriends before?” I mused aloud, smirking when I heard Oli yell out that I had. “Are they listening in right now? Really?”

“Of course they are.” Sacha’s lips twitched, but he managed to keep it together. Thomas just looked at all of us like we were crazy. He hasn’t seen anything yet.

“You’ll learn that they’re all very high maintenance and need attention,” I joked with the boy sitting beside me. “All of them.”

“Excuse you?!” Vas growled.

Ignoring him, I continued. “But anything you can tell us about the man who had you would be a huge help. We need to know, Thomas. We have to stop him.”

“You mean kill him?”

I searched his face, fear and nerves twisting together until I felt cold seep into my veins. Was he afraid of me? Afraid of Christopher? Both? If it was the former, what would I do when all of this was over? Give him up so he could live a normal life? I wasn’t sure if I could do that, but how could I not if that was what he needed? Standing up, I put space between us and walked over to the desk, forcing myself to look at anything other than him.

“Tell us what you know, Thomas,” I told him firmly. “We can worry about the details while you recover.”

No one said anything for a minute, and I could feel the weight of their gazes on me. Then Thomas cleared his throat and started to fill us in from the beginning—being taken, beaten, and threatened. Wrenn’s arrival and her telling him about me and the guys.

“And he knows you’re pregnant,” Thomas finally said, exhaustion making his quiet voice almost a whisper. “It’s what she used to set him off and distract him so I could get away.”

I pressed a shaky hand to my stomach as if that would help shield them, processing everything he had shared. “He’s coming here then,” I decided, staring up at Sacha and Vas. “Get him somewhere safe upstairs. I need to talk with the others.”

“Nic—” Thomas started, reaching for me when I passed him, but I didn’t look back. I couldn’t. To see his fear directed at me… My walls were too fucking cracked right now to deal with that. It would destroy me.

“We have information,” I said, walking past Sacha and Vas to where I thought the others were waiting. No one was in the hallway like I thought they would be, so I went out to the foyer only to come to a standstill. Oli was on the floor, blood pooling around him as he pressed a hand to his head. Bodhi was beside him trying to help. Before I could ask them what had happened, a hard hand clamped over my mouth from behind.

“Thomas left out the best parts.” Christopher’s usually upbeat and warm voice was now a cold and taunting whisper in my ear. “But not to worry, I think we’re all going to get some things out in the open. Unlike the fucking bastards you’re with now,Iwon’t tolerate secrets. I own every fucking part of you.”

“Christopher—” I tried to protest, but he squeezed my face hard enough that my eyes watered. The ache in my jaw forced a whimper past my lips even though I hated giving him any sign that he’d managed to hurt me.

“You’ll learn your place soon enough, Nicholette,” he promised me harshly. “But I think it’s time we start with some goodbyes.”

He lifted his other hand and aimed his gun, firing off a few shots before I managed to exhale.

“Bodhi!”

Nicholette
