“Impatient today, huh?”
“Un poquito, mi alma.“ He chuckled. “Quiero verte. Besarte en todas partes. So pretty please, love of my life, may I come inside?”
“Mm. That was too many words to try to translate right now but they hit all the right buttons.”
He chuckled again, his voice dropping to a seductive rumble. “Let me come in and I’ll show you just how right you are.”
“Go straight to the backyard. I’ll meet you out there.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“What do you think, Rose? Did we get enough?” I asked, handing the phone back to Xander.
“Girl. We got enough and then some.” She smiled, hopping from the bed to put her camera away.
I got back into my clothes in a hurry while Rose and her assistant packed and moved their equipment.
“Thank you.” I hugged her before running down the stairs, excited to see my man. I hit the back door at full speed. My legs had never moved faster. Apparently the billion squats Sierra prescribed not only lifted my ass but made me lighter on my feet too.
I ran from the house to the covered gathering area and leapt straight into Mateo’s waiting arms.
His hands gripped my thighs, holding me in place while my legs wrapped around him and my arms soon followed.
“Well, hello, beautiful,” he said with a smile that I covered with my lips before pulling back.
“Hi.” I nuzzled my head into the crook of his neck.
He moved a few steps over to sit on the cushioned bench with me still in his arms, straddling his lap.
“I like this,” he said, the green in his eyes shimmered against the sunlight as they lingered on my pink lips and his thumb traced over them.
I took his thumb between my teeth and bit softly, running my tongue along the tip.
His smile changed into that sexy smirk I envisioned earlier as he cocked his head and eyes stayed fixated on my lips.
“The bedroom is open… if you wanna, you know, head that way,” Xander said, sitting on the bench across from us, with Sierra following. “Me and Tink can fend for ourselves.”
Sierra punched his shoulder as she went to sit next to him with a barely hidden smile.
“Ow!” he whined, rubbing the spot.
“The bedroom?” Mateo’s head stayed cocked and his eyebrows raised. “What were y’all doing in there?” he asked, brushing his hands through my loose waves.
“You’ll find out soon.” I smiled, waggling my eyebrows.
His laugh sent a bolt of electricity shooting from my ears to my toes before zapping my heart enough for it to skip a beat.
Off Mateo’s lap, I stood and helped set out dinner.
Looking around at Mateo, Sierra, and Xander before we parted ways for the night left me with a blissful sensation.
I liked this feeling.
I liked knowing my future would include them—the people who helped me uncover a better version of myself.
The comforting, content aura that surrounded Mateo and I as we curled up into the bed for the night left me feeling as peaceful as I remembered being in the last year.
The puzzle of my life felt like it was finally taking shape. I could visualize the end result and had all the pieces to finish it ready and waiting to become a permanent fixture.
