My heart melts. He really is too good for me. The fact that he just accidentally called Karly the most beautiful girl in the world slamming into me like a ton of bricks. Did he mean it like that?

Karly is beautiful, but that was just Eric being supportive and just…well, Eric. I brush it off.

We say our goodbyes, Karly promising to call us if Ashton comes back or gives her any trouble.

We go to Eric's house, and I follow him inside. I can't help but notice all the flowers. What seems like thousands of them.

"Well, this night was supposed to go a little differently," he smiles, "I was going to call you to come over, make up some stupid excuse for needing you, but it wouldn't be us if something didn't interfere."

He opens a tiny black velvet box, dropping to one knee right in front of me.

I close my eyes, tears threatening to escape.

The second my eyes shut, I see Jameson. Kneeling in front of me at the airport at just nineteen years old.

I take a deep calming breath.

No, Hanna.

He left.

He'll always leave.

I open my eyes, my heart sinking to my feet.

"Yes."
