We spend the day in an inn (not the shack from last time), and even manage to book two rooms. The plan comes together after a couple of hours going over as many details as possible, though the guys don’t know it.

They bicker for hours about the details of getting past the guards, and whether or not they should kill them. ‘We are allies, after all,’ Killian argues.

‘Not to me,’ Elijah says darkly.

As far as getting inside the estate goes, there are two clear options, seen or unseen. Seen, they have to get past the guards, either by killing them or knocking them out. Unseen, they’d have to find a way to scale the building, and since wolves are better with their paws on the ground and we don’t have climbing equipment, that’s not an option.

Even if they get inside, we don’t know where Moira’s being held, and an estate is no small place to search, especially that if one person saw them, they would be caught, too.

‘You two should stay here,’ Elijah tries. ‘If you get caught, you could send Water and Fire into a war. If I go, I can deny anyone else knowing about my plans. If I get caught, it’s just me who pays the price.’

‘And Moira,’ I add coolly.

They go round and round for hours, until I eventually kick Elijah out. ‘I’m glad you’re here, but you’re giving me a headache. Go sleep. We’ll pick this back up in the morning.’ I’m careful to avoid his gaze as we say goodnight.

I climb up onto the bed and give a long sigh.

From the couch, Killian smiles.

‘Don’t tell me you’re going to sleep on the couch again.’

Killian leaps onto the bed and starts jumping up and down until I giggle. ‘No chance! This is my bed,’ he claims. Then snuggles up to me on it. ‘And yours. You can’t leave. You’re not allowed.’

‘What if I wanted to sleep on the couch?’

He hugs me close. ‘Nope. Can’t.’ He nuzzles into my neck, making me smile.

‘I see. So you’re saying I must sleep with you.’

‘I didn’t say anything about sleeping.’ Killian climbs up and straddles me. ‘Interested?’

I hide a smirk. ‘Oh, maybe.’ I fake a big, long yawn. ‘Awh, I am kind of tired.’ I stretch, only able to move so much with this big guy on me.

‘I could wake you up.’ Killian leans down, his hands on my belly, thumbing at the hem, pulling my shirt up.

I stifle another fake yawn. ‘Mm, that couch does look really comfortable, though.’

Killian gasps, pinning my hands on either side of me. ‘Are you exacting revenge?’

I wink. ‘Yes. I thought you didn’t want to sleep with me!’

Killian’s gaze darkens. ‘Of course I did.’ His nose brushes mine. He leans down and nibbles on my bottom lip. ‘You’re my mate. I just didn’t want to rush you into anything.’

I look down at where his hands grasps mine. There’s no force there, just… hard muscles. I can feel how strong he is even though he’s not using his strength against me. I stare up into his eyes. ‘I’m not rushed.’

‘Hmm.’ Killian growls low in my ear, sending bolts of pleasure through me. ‘No? How about tired? You’re not tired, are you?’ He takes my hands in one of his and holds them above my head, using the other hand to push my shirt up and palm my breast, running roughly over my nipple.

I bite back a moan.

‘I’ll just have to wake you up.’ He leans down and takes my nipple between his teeth.

‘Oh!’ I buck under him.

He licks over me. ‘Can I make it… more intense this time?’

‘How intense?’

Killian loosens his hold on me. ‘There’s something I’ve always looked forward to doing with my mate.’
