‘Couldn’t he come with us? I’m sure we’ll need the help.’
I consider. My mother could care for the pack. ‘I’ll ask him.’ I usher Jana out of my room. ‘Go get Divina and Jaken.’
Jana screws up her face. ‘I am not talking to that Dark Witch.’
I turn her by the shoulders and push her down the hallway. ‘She won’t turn you into a toad. Go. Now.’
With a final, weary glance at Mordecai, she huffs and marches off down the hall.
