“Before who does, Mom?”
Mom starts crying harder. “Rayn Trist. Your half-brother.”
This was all too much.
Not only did I have a brother that I never knew about, but I knew exactly who that brother was.
I saw him play football for my future college team every week.
I tried to rack my brain for a family resemblance.
Did he look like me?
Did he look like my dad?
Did he know about me or my brothers?
Tomorrow I leave for college.
Tomorrow I start football camp.
Tomorrow I’ll officially meet my half-brother.
What was supposed to be the start of an exciting future is now turning into a nightmare.
I don't blame my mom.
I blame my dad.
A man who so easily can leave behind for children and walk away without another thought.
I wouldn't blame Rayn if he hates me.
After all, I'm the reason his dad left him.
Chapter Two
Priya
I have been in love with his Zephyr Trist since I was 6 years old.
We met in the first grade when we sat at the same table in Miss Richards’ class.
I had just moved to town and I was very shy and he was the first person to talk to me.
“Do you like pudding?” he asked me.
I shook my head. “No. Do you like raisins?”
“No,” he told me.
It seemed like we were not going to have much in common.
But then he asked me if I like Star Wars and I told him I had dressed as Princess Leia for Halloween that year and we have been best friends ever since.
I knew that I was officially in love with my best friend Zephyr when I thought that he might like Chloe Daniels.
That was when we were 12 and we were at a pool party at her house.
