“I’ll kill you all before I ever let you have my power!” Sky screams, I gasp when I see her eyes, they are pure white. Black veins course through her pale white skin, I can sense the power wafting off her in waves. Who the hell is Skylar Cage and what is she really?

“You don’t have a choice, once you are dead your power will go to the one it deems strongest, and that will be me.” Davina’s eyes narrow at Phillip, clearly, they don’t like each other but are working together out of necessity, not want.

“Take her back to her cell.” A woman standing near Phillip barks, I watch as the woman Kayla comes from the shadows and hauls Sky up by her bound arms. She has short blonde hair just past her ears, her blue eyes are devoid of emotion, if we weren’t in this horrible situation, I would peg her as a cheerleader who thinks their own shit doesn’t stink. I follow her and Sky from the room and down the stairs, this woman doesn’t rush Sky and even wraps her arm around her waist to try ease her struggle.

“You better have a plan.” Kayla whispers.

“I do.” Sky answers.

“Care to share it with me, because Phillip or Davina cannot be the one to get your power Sky.” She speaks to her as if they are familiar with one another.

“They won’t get it.”

“Why the fuck don’t you just bust out of here?”

“Because this is where my path ends, I cannot outrun my demon any longer. I wish I could, but I cannot. I know now why it had to be at this exact moment, I have to die in order for another to live. Just do your part and all will end as it should.”

“Cairo and Creed are going to kill me!” Kayla grits out.

“Are you worried about them or another Reeves sibling?” Kayla growls and Sky chuckles, but then begins to cough. We are now on the basement level in the room that I saw Sky in before.

“Tomorrow night––.”

I bolt upright gasping; hands clasp my face and I shriek in fright until my eyes meet his and I relax. Worry lines mar his handsome face, I’m trying to regulate my breathing while he runs his eyes over me checking for injuries. I notice we are back in the living room; I pat his hands indicating for him to release me and he does. I swing my legs over the side of the couch and hunch over.

“Beauty, what happened?” The tone of his voice has guilt swirling inside me, I hate that he is worried about me because of my visions. I slowly sit up and look around noticing everyone is here, and I cringe, I spot Alexander leaning against the far wall with a worried look in his eyes.

“It was just a vision.” I whisper, my throat is dry and coarse, Blake moves toward me and hands me a bottle of water, patting me on the head which earns him a glare from me. I didn’t realize how thirsty I was nearly draining the whole thing.

“Is…did you fall? Is the…bean okay?” Oh shit, I place my hand against my stomach and berate myself internally for forgetting about the baby.

“She was seated when it begun, no harm has befallen the child.” I snap my gaze to Alexanders.

“It didn’t hurt when it happened, my head isn’t aching now, why?” He holds my stare as he answers me.

“Because I guided you, your visions are powerful, with the correct guidance and help, they won’t harm you.”

“So, she won’t die?” Cass asks.

“With the correct training, no, left unchecked it can cause a brain bleed from the pressure of them.”

“Then train her!” Hunter growls.

“It isn’t that simple pup; training takes time, and right now we don’t have that.”

“Alexander!” Vince reprimands him sternly. “Do not give false hope where there is nothing to be found.” I tune Alex and Vince out as I turn to face Cairo, his eyes are on me already. I reach out and grip both his hands in mine, he pulls free and then wraps his arms around me hauling me onto his lap. I smile and run my fingers through his hair, he places his hand against my stomach, and I stop breathing for a moment.

“I’m sorry I worried you.” A whoosh of air escapes him.

“I didn’t expect to be so overcome by my emotions when I saw Alex walking toward us with you in his arms. Fuck beauty, I had to fight my wolf just to stay in control.” Guilt gnaws at me once again.

“I’m okay, I swear.”

“Just…let me hold you for a bit.” I nod my head and lean into him. Conversation around us becomes white noise as I get lost in the feel of him, he has become somewhat of a safe haven for me, in such a short time.

“Belle?” I answer Creed without moving my head from Cairo’s shoulder.

“Hmmm.”
