“I don’t have a sister.” Cairo scoffs and mumbles.
“Figures.”
“What’s your point Vince? Don’t give me the long story, just give the cliff notes, because I am out of patience, I’m anxious to get the fuck home to my mate and son.”
“Okay, Alexander is my half-brother, and I am also an original vampire.” Yeah, wow okay. He has stunned everyone silent; Creed’s gaze burns into Vince.
“Start from the fucking beginning!” Cairo grinds out.
“He was raised in Romania, and I was raised in Australia by my human mother until she died, then I sought out my father. You see being a born vampire, means you don’t thirst for blood like a turned vamp, or even have any of the abilities of one.”
“What does that mean?” Cass cuts in.
“It means that in order for your vampire side to…awaken I guess you could call it, is to kill.” I gasp. “I unintentionally activated mine, once I landed in Romania, I saw a woman being assaulted by a group of guys, I found a steel pole and beat them off her, but I got one in the head, and he later died in hospital. Needless to say, I became a vamp and caused enough damage to garner the attention of my brother who found me, Alexander isn’t a bad guy.”
“Then why the fuck has he been a cagey bastard, and not giving the whole truth?” Cairo demands.
“Because knowledge is power, and you knowing too much would cause others to come for you.” All Eyes swing to Alexander who is now awake, Vince rushes to his side and helps him sit up. Alexander asks Vince to help him remove his blood-soaked shirt and when his chest becomes visible, my eyes widen, and I cover my mouth at the sight of the tattoo on his pec.
Miracolul meu, Gabrielle
My name is tattooed across his chest! I have no idea what the inscription before my name means, but my freaking name is right there! My mouth is agape, and my eyes are stuck staring at his chest, silence begins to descend and I’m pretty sure it’s because everyone else has noticed my name as well.
“W-why do you have my name?” His dark gaze swings to me, I still at the intensity in his eyes.
“So, I could keep you with me always.” It’s such a raw and honest answer that I didn’t expect it.
“What does it mean?” I whisper slightly embarrassed by everyone being here and listening in to this private conversation.
“My miracle, Gabrielle.” I don’t have a response; I don’t know what I’m supposed to say to that. If I was such a miracle to him, then why the hell did he throw me away like a piece of trash? “I can see you are hurt and angry, and you have every right to be mad. I did what I did in order to assure you had a chance at life.”
“What does that even mean, and how the hell is this possible? We saw our mother pregnant, and she went into labor with Belle.” The disbelief in Hunter’s voice is understandable.
“Yes, you saw all of those things, but it wasn’t as it seemed.”
“Explain this to us, now!” The command in Cass’s voice is alpha worthy, Alexander smiles at him and it sends a shiver down my spine.
“You will be worthy of your title when the time comes, but you will not be the only one that vies for her affection.” I frown confused as hell as to what he means. “The child your mother birthed, died, I offered your father a replacement, and in his grief-stricken state, he agreed.”
“Wait, so, dad just…took Belle?”
“Yes Hunter. Your father couldn’t bare the loss of a child, so he agreed, I took the deceased infant and allowed Davina to find it, so she would think that my child didn’t survive.” I’m sick to my stomach, an innocent baby was used to make everyone think I had died. What the hell is wrong with him, no, what the hell was my father thinking? “Gabriel is a good man, I trusted him to do right by my daughter––.”
I scoff. “I am not your daughter; you and I may share blood, but that is it. I have a family and a father; you gave up your right the moment you discarded me.” I’m pissed that I can hear the hurt in my own voice, still no flicker of emotion crosses his face.
“It was either place you with the Wilder’s, or have you hunted your whole life; I chose the lesser of the two evils. I knew what was coming and I couldn’t change it, no matter how hard I tried––I couldn’t.” My eyes widen.
“Holy crap!”
“What is it sis?” I shake my head in answer to Hunter and keep my gaze on Alexander who is now smiling like he won the lottery. “You have visions as well?” Gasps ring out around us.
“You get your gift from me; I had hoped that you wouldn’t but––.” I cut him off with a tirade of questions.
“How are you able to be touched? How can you be around people? Did a witch spell you as well?” He raises his hand to stop my onslaught of questions, I clamp my mouth closed and wait. I feel Ro come up behind me and place a comforting hand on my shoulder, both my brothers are sitting up straight waiting for his answer.
“At first, I was much like you, but over time I learned to control it with the help of Vince and my father––your grandfather. Each original is born with a…gift.” I look to to Vince and ask.
“What is yours?” Alexander chuckles, which earns him a glare from his brother.
