“So where are we going?” I shake my head to clear my thoughts and focus on the conversation going on around me.

“I got a lead and apparently Sky is in Montana.” Cairo says in answer to Cole’s question, I may be pissed off at him but even I can admit that he looks fucking hot. Black tee, ripped jeans, combat boots and a snapback with NY on the front. He has the cap pulled so low on his head that it partially shields his eyes, he seems so on edge and unreachable right now and it makes my heart sink. He’s been so caught up in trying to find his…Fucked if I know what Sky is to him but I know she is important. Callie plonks down beside me and I peer at the teddy she is holding, it’s a Naruto plushie. I had no idea she was into anime, she smiles and hands it to me, as soon as my fingertips graze it, I’m sucked into a vision, this one hits me hard. I cry out as the world turns black.

I look around the dark damp room, the only light source is the moon coming from the window on my left. I move toward the light and hope from this vantage point I will get a better view; a door opens across from me and the lights flicker on. I blink my eyes a couple of times to adjust and when I do I have to muffle my scream. Sky is bound to a wooden chair, her wrists and ankles are cuffed to the arms and legs of it, her blonde hair is filthy and covered in mud, the man with the ill fitted suit grips her hair and yanks her head up, Sky’s eyes snap open but they don’t go to the man––she stares straight at me and winks.

Her lip is busted, and her nose is at an odd angle, her eyes have faded bruises around them, my lip begins to tremble, and tears start to gather behind my eyes. I run my gaze down her body and see her shirt is torn open, her bra is still in place, but she has cuts all over her chest and stomach. Her pants are missing, she only has her panties on, oh god please no, please tell me they didn’t do what I think they did to her!

“You ready to play on the dark side Miss Cage?” Sky pulls her gaze from me and looks over the seven other people whose faces I can’t see with a look of disgust, she turns back to Phillip I think his name is and spits at his feet. He yanks her back by her hair and slaps her across the face. I scream out for him to stop but it’s no use, they can’t hear me. He releases his hold on Sky, she turns to the side and spits out a mouthful of blood then laughs––she sounds so unhinged.

“When I get out of here, your wannabe witch isn’t going to be able to save you, I’m going to rip you motherfuckers apart. You want the animal inside me to come out and play?” The eight of them begin to exchange looks but the only face I can see is Phillip, he tries to mask it, but I can see the fear in his eyes.

“You will be under our control––.”

“You think because you have me in iron chains that it will keep me here? In three days’ time it will be the harvest moon, and when it is at peak, you will all fall!” Sky laughs again and the sound sends shivers down my spine, The eight of them turn and exit the room, they all seem more tense than when they first walked in. When the door is closed behind them, I move toward Sky, I don’t know if she can actually see me. “I know you’re here Belle.”

I sigh in relief. “Can you hear me?” She nods then a small hiss escapes her, I cringe unsure what I should do.

“Over there by the window is where they keep the water, bring me some.” I do as she says and quickly grab a couple of bottles before returning to her and uncapping it, I place it against her lips. She finishes the first one in seconds and gets halfway through the second before she starts coughing and heaving. I drop the bottles and try to find a way to unlock the chains that bind her, but its futile! “They are sealed by a spell, only the witch that cast it can remove them.”

“Then what was that bullshit about three days’ time?” She smiles but it doesn’t reach her eyes. “Why am I here, how am I here?”

“In three days’, time the darkness that I fought to keep at bay will take over, you’re here because I need you to keep Cairo from coming. I pulled you here.”

“How? If these chains stop your magic, then how can you bring me to you?”

“I have someone helping me, he is the one who told Cairo where I am.”

“Who is he?” She ignores my question.

“Gabrielle, you need to listen to me and listen carefully.” I nod my head. “Davina is after you because you are the one who can end the vampire race.” I open my mouth to protest, but she carries on. “Just listen, we don’t have much time; Alexander is trying to protect you from her. He isn’t the bad guy like Ro thinks––.”

“I’ve heard of him; you said his name in a vision when I first met you all.”

“That’s because our destinies are intertwined.”

“I don’t need to hear anymore, let me go back Sky so I can warn the others, we can stop this––.”

“No!” I flinch at the anger in her tone and look toward the door worried that someone might have heard her shout. “This is my ending Belle, it’s a long story okay, and I will explain everything. Tell Callie everything she needs to know is inside her favorite plushie.” I furrow my brow in confusion.

“That’s confusing as shit Sky––.” I snap my mouth closed when a wave of dizziness hits me, and I begin to sway on my feet.

“His scent clings to you, in another life maybe, he and I could have been, but not in this one Belle. You are his perfect match; I saw it in the way he gazed at you. You and Cairo are one in the same, be there for him when he tries to throw you away, and believe me, he will. He will need you for what is about to come.”

The sound of a really large engine is the first thing I hear when I come to, I slowly blink my eyes open and begin to panic, when I don’t see Jess’s living room.

“You’re okay beauty.” I sit up and look around, we’re on a plane! No, not just any plane a private jet, the others are scattered around sleeping on couches and chairs, I look to my left and see my three brothers asleep in the seats next to the window. I shake my head and turn back toward Cairo; I furrow my brow at the napkin he holds out for me. “Your nose is bleeding.” I snatch it from him and quickly dab the blood away, I really hope it’s not a bad bleed because I don’t want to shove this napkin up my nostril, that would so not look hot. Thankfully I don’t have to shove it up my nose, I look around again to give me something to do other than sit here in awkward silence withMr. I know.Creed, Cole, Callie, Zeke, Hunter, Blake and Cass are the only other people on the plane aside from us. I look down at myself and notice I’m wearing Cairo’s black Nike jumper, someone even put on my Canary yellow low-cut Chucks for me. “You looked cold.”

I snicker before tartly replying. “I know.”

A low growl sounds out, but I ignore him, I know I should tell him about my vision, but I still feel dizzy and I’m tired. I stand ready to move near my brothers and hopefully get some rest before we land, but his arms band around my waist and yank me back against his chest. I still in his hold, he pulls his jumper down exposing my mate mark. He darts his tongue out and licks it, shivers wrack my body and I have to bite down on my lip to stop myself from moaning. Whenever he kisses, licks or bites the mark a euphoric feeling spreads throughout my body and it’s ten times more intense when I’m about to come, and he clamps his teeth on it.

“Those three words are so overrated and hold no meaning.” The blissful feeling evaporates within seconds, his words are like a bucket of ice water.

“Bullshit.” I whisper shout not wanting to wake the others. “You’re just too much of a coward to say them.” He spins me around and then clasps my face between his hands, his eyes search mine, but I make sure to keep my emotions from my face.

“Do you know how overused those three stupid words are?” I narrow my eyes at him.

“In yet you can say them to Jess, your nephew and even Sky.” He bends so we are nose to nose, a soft growl tumbles from his lips but I don’t pull away. I’m a sucker for punishment and have to hear what he says next.
