“Okay, then what about Mr. Not Quite Perfect?”

“What?” I said.

“Well, everything you’ve told me about him makes him sound perfect and amazing, and I can’t wait to meet him. But you say he’s not perfect.”

“Because he’s not.”

“So then let’s call him Mr. Not Quite Perfect because he seems like he’s pretty close to perfect to me.”

“Fine,” I said as I saw Travis making his way over to me. “You can call him that.”

“Yay. That’s our code name for him, then.”

“I’m not calling him that.”

“Yes, you will,” she said. “So, where are we going to dinner?”

“I don’t know. Pick a place and make reservations for three. Okay? Text me and let me know the plan.”

“Okay. And do we have a type of cuisine we want or…”

“No. Whatever you feel like eating.”

“Okay and a budget?”

I pause for a second and smile. “Find the most expensive place that you can.”

“Really? I thought you were broke.”

“Yeah, but Travis is coming with us and will probably pay.”

“You think so?”

“I know so.” I grinned. “So let’s really enjoy tonight.”

“Okay,” Poppy said, laughing. “I will not say no to that. I’ll look for a place and I’ll text you the deets, yeah?”

“Sounds good. See you soon, Poppy.”

“I can’t wait.” She sounded excited. “I miss you.”

“I miss you, too. Bye.”

I hung up as Travis stopped next to me. “Well, you look happy,” he said, smiling down at me.

“I am. I just spoke to Poppy, and she’s really excited.”

“Oh, to meet me?” He grinned with a self-assured expression.

“No, she’s excited to see me and get dinner.”

“Okay.” He nodded. “Well, I’m glad to hear that.”

“Okay. Are we going to the room or what?”

“Yeah, let’s head to the elevator,” he said, nodding. “So I have to ask.”

“Yeah, what?” I asked him as we made our way to the elevator. The door dinged, and we walked inside.
