“So you’re still not going to tell me what island you booked for us?” I pressed my lips against her ear, and she moaned slightly as she turned away from me. I snuggled up beneath her and wrapped my arms around her waist. “Come on, Molly, tell me.”
“It’s a secret, Travis.” She cocked her head over her shoulder and gave me a sweet smile. “And you know you don’t want to ruin the secret, do you?”
“I don’t think the secret will be ruined if you tell me.” I laughed but then pressed my lips against her shoulder. “But fine. You don’t have to tell me. We can sleep.”
“Thank you, Travis.”
“Is it Barbados?” I asked quickly.
“Travis.”
“Aruba?”
“It’s not Aruba.”
“Trinidad and Tobago?”
“No.”
“Antigua?”
“Travis.” She sounded exasperated now and turned around to face me. “Are you just going to keep asking me all night?”
I nodded my head and grinned. “Maybe.”
“Fine,” she said. “I’m going to tell you, but don’t blame me for ruining the surprise.”
“I won’t. Where is it?”
“We’re going to Jamaica, man,” she said in a Jamaican accent, and I started laughing as she wrinkled her nose.
“Oh wow. That will be amazing. What made you choose Jamaica?”
“Because I love Bob Marley”—she grinned—“and I’ve always wanted to go to Jamaica. They’re supposed to have absolutely gorgeous beaches, and the food is supposed to be delicious, and it’ll be fun,” I said. “There’s this one dish I want to try that I think will be really good.”
“Oh, what is it? Please don’t say burger and fries.”
She made a face at me. “Of course it’s not burger and fries, Travis.”
“Then what is it?”
“Salt fish and ackee,” she said, grinning.
“Salt fish and what?” I frowned.
“Ackee,” she said. “I don’t know what it is.” She laughed. “But I read about it on this website, and it said when you’re in Jamaica, you have to try salt fish and ackee.”
“Okay. As soon as we land, we’ll look for the best salt fish and ackee in all the land,” I said, smiling at her, and she giggled.
“You’re a goof, Travis.”
“I try to be,” I said. “I like to see you smile and laugh. I like to make you happy.”
“You do make me happy,” she said, “and you know what I was thinking?”
“No, but I have a feeling you’re going to tell me.”
“I was thinking that I wouldn’t mind working for the division of your company that deals with charitable donations. I’ve always thought it would be great to be part of a foundation that was trying to help people.”
