The door slammed softly and her cousin was on the inside as they turned to look. “I’m loving this shit, I really am, but you have got to get down there. Everyone is asking where you’re at.” He walked across the room and lifted her to her feet. “Ho, you have hundreds of people downstairs – this particular person will have to wait a little while. You’re lucky it was me. I volunteered when your dad started looking around.”
“Awkward…”
“Uh huh. Let’s go.” Looking at Erick who stood beside him, he said, “You shower, change into casual shit, and meet us down there. Man, I thought you had more control!”
“You had to be there,” Erick replied with his hands on his hips.
“Yuck! No!” Davis guided her across the room. “Fortunately, women can hide this kind of thing. Bitches be lucky.”
As Amanda reappeared downstairs, she went straight to her mom, tugged her into the kitchen, and used sign language to outline the kisses but nothing else.
Zoe’s mouth dropped and she giggled. “We both know it was more than that. I’m glad. Details later. I think your dad is looking for you out back. Pony rides?”
“Excellent idea!”
Half an hour later, Amanda had two horses ready and Zoe helped her guide them around the yard with kids on their backs. Her mom had changed out of fancy clothes to her country wear. She was so adorable.
When Erick appeared on the front porch, Amanda fought down the butterflies in her stomach. Her time with him would be fleeting but she was going to make it count. She deserved something from the shit show of her current situation.
Erick touching her should do the trick.
