“You’re such an ass,” she fired back.

Glancing at her over my shoulder, I made sure to wink. “That I am. I had fun.” Who was I kidding? It was a rush to fuck her like that, in the middle of a charity ball she was attending with another man. But, there was no doubt about it, she was mine.

Reagan flipped me off, but I could see the playfulness on her face. Once out in the hallway, I didn’t want to go back into the ballroom, but I had no choice. Annika paraded me around and introduced me to everyone she knew. Having to pretend I gave a shit was annoying as hell. All I could focus on was Reagan and watching her hold onto Finn’s arm. I was ready for the night to be fucking over.

I stopped at the main entrance to the ballroom and pulled out my phone since I had given Annika the excuse that I had to make a call. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Reagan turn the corner, her cheeks still red from our secret encounter. The thought of what we just did made my dick hard again. Reagan glanced at me quickly but then focused on her path, which was directly through the crowd of people toward Finn.

Looking down at my phone, I saw there were a few missed texts from Ethan, and I had no doubt he was going to be pissed when he found out I was fucking his sister. However, it wasn’t just that. I wanted to be with her and no one else. It was more than just a good time that I craved. Reagan was everything I could ever want; she was strong, funny, and most important, she could put me in my place. That was what I loved about her. I wasn’t afraid to admit I was in love with her, but she wasn’t ready to hear it.

“There you are. I thought you got lost,” Annika called out.

She strolled toward me, and I slipped my phone into my pocket. “Sorry about that.”

“Did you make your phone call?” She reached for my arm.

I nodded. “I did. Are we ready to go back in there?”

Annika beamed. “Of course. I’m not done showing you off.”

We walked back into the ballroom, and I held back a disgruntled groan. I had two more hours of hell.

Icouldn’t begin to describe the relief I felt the second we all got into the limo. Annika snuggled into my side, and Reagan made a point not to look at us. The muscles in her jaw clenched every time Annika mentioned how great it was to have me with her.

When we pulled up to Reagan’s apartment, Annika grabbed my hand before I could open the door. “How about I come over to your place tonight? It’s still early.”

I had to refrain from looking over at Reagan and Finn, but I could feel Reagan’s heated gaze penetrating right through me.

“I have an early morning training session tomorrow,” I said, focusing on Annika’s hopeful hazel-colored gaze. The moment I said it, I could see the disappointment on her face. “Maybe some other time.”

Annika nodded. “You can count on it.”

Once out of the limo, I moved over to my car to make it look like I was about to leave. A few seconds later, Reagan emerged with Finn right behind her. He kissed her cheek and whispered something in her ear before returning to the limo. My insides burned like fire as I waited for him and Annika to leave.

Reagan started for the stairs but stopped and waved at them as they left the parking lot. The instant they were out of sight, she looked at me with a knowing expression.

“I didn’t know he was going to kiss me. At least it was just on the cheek.”

I walked over to her. “You would’ve shit a brick if Annika did the same.”

Reagan nodded. “I know. I told Finn I wasn’t interested.”

“Doesn’t look like he’s getting the point,” I grumbled.

She pursed her lips at me. “I seem to recall a certain someone being the same way. You’ve been trying to get in my pants since we were sixteen.”

“And it took nine years for you to give in.”

A sexy smile spread across her face. “Believe me, there were plenty of times I wanted to relent. I couldn’t handle it anymore tonight. I’m ashamed to say I’m weak.”

“Weak?” I asked, smirking. “I thought it was my charm that got you all hot and bothered.” Reagan turned for the stairs, and I followed her up the first flight.

“You’re a little too full of yourself.”

“Yeah, but you love it,” I teased. When we got to her door, she unlocked it and stepped out of the way so I could enter first.

“It’s annoying,” she pointed out.

After she shut the door and locked it, I sidled up to her, loving how her breath hitched when I got close. “Was I annoying tonight?”
