Page 63 of Finding Their Place

I shut and locked my bedroom door behind me and didn’t bother with prolonging my agony.

That time, it was a fantasy of Haley and her alone, her small hands sudsing her petite body with soap, that filled my mind while I shot spunk over my torso.

Emptiness overshadowed me as I listened to her get ready for work and eventually walk out the door, but I didn’t know how to fill the void inside me.

Cum would replenish, but my heart would remain uninhabited by anything but longing.

What a bleak fucking future.

I went to Sunrise Condos on Monday since that guy who had been working with Blaine quit the week before.

Blaine grinned when I showed up with a bag of muffins and coffee. The haunted look in his eyes I was used to seeing, the rounded shoulders, had disappeared the summer before. He’d found the type of love romantics read about in novels, the passion that only came about in fairytales, the connections every goddamn human on the planet yearned for.

Blaine was one lucky bastard, and we shared a good laugh over the smallness of the world as we discussed Lily and Haley being friends.

“Lily says she can be a handful.”

I nodded at Blaine’s statement while we lounged beneath a tree for our coffee break. “She’s fiery, has no filter, is needy for affection…can’t get her out of my mind.”

“You know she’s in love with her roommate, right?” he asked, his tone wary. “I mean, I don’t want to fuck things up for you, but Lily told us that awhile ago, and I thought I should say something to keep you from getting hurt.”

“Yeah. I’ve seen it.” I swallowed down the last of my coffee and shoved the cup in the bag we’d emptied of muffins.

“What do you mean you’ve seen it?”

“The three of us got pizza and watched a movie last night. She looks at him with more than fondness, and he can’t keep his eyes off her.”

“Wait. What?”

“Garrett’s in love with her too.”

“But I thought he was gay.”

I glanced over at Blaine and raised an eyebrow.

“Shit. Seriously?”

“Mmm hmm.” I crushed the cup/bag together between my palms. “And I’m feeling like shit for taking her from him. They’re close as hell. Best friends—I’ve never seen anything like it. Purely platonic even though there’s hidden longing.”

“Sounds familiar.”

I once more eyed Blaine, well aware of his recent past. “Were you upset with Grey when you found out he was in love with you that whole time? That he’d lied to you for ten plus years?”

“He didn’t really lie to me. I just never saw his feelings for what they were.”

“Kept the truth from you…whatever you want to call it. You seriously weren’t mad?”

“No.”

Nodding, I glanced out over the lawn Blaine had cut not long after the sun rose. “I really like Haley,” I admitted, “and I want her to find the person she’s looking for to fill that void in her life. I thought it might be me, but Garrett will always hold a piece of her heart.”

“Is he hot?”

“As fuck.” I grinned and cast Blaine a glance. “The second I saw him, I wanted to drop to my knees or bend him over a couch. All thoughts of Haley had flashed out of my head for a few seconds like she didn’t even exist.”
