He didn’t respond right away, and I wondered where his mind went. If I’d fucked up something I’d thought might be a good thing…

“Too crass?” I asked, my hand tightening around my glass’s stem as those fluttering wings in my stomach crashed and burned.

“Not at all. I told you I like your bluntness.”

“But?” I held my breath.

“You…kind of sent my mind down the path we agreed to put on hold even though we’ve both been in serious dry spells.”

“Mmm,” I hummed as warmth spread through my body and settled between my thighs. “Do tell.”

Wyatt’s deep inhale came through loud and clear, and I bit the inside of my lip. “Two conversations into whatever this is,” he said, his tone lowering, “and my dick is more than willing to give you a good workout.”

Fuck.

I bit down harder to keep from moaning the word dragging out in my head. While dirty talk usually just made me snicker, Wyatt’s husky voice did my arousal factory in. Damp heat hit my core with intense need.

I’d definitely lived too long without the real thing.

I set aside my wine and slouched on my bed. “Now you’ve got my mind going and my body all warm and tingly,” I grumped out the words, wishing we’d travelled my usual route of fucking first, chatting later.

“Do tell,” he repeated my suggestion, and I swore I could hear his smirk.

“Shut up,” I snipped.

“You started it.”

“Don’t be an ass.”

“I’ve been told I have a great ass.”

“I want to see.”

Wyatt didn’t shoot back another rapid-fire response.

“Well?” I pushed, those wings taking to flight in my belly again, a grin on my face.

“Tomorrow,” he stated firmly, “if our wine and dine goes well.”

“Fine,” I simpered, hoping he heard my eye roll. “What other great attributes do you have other than those gorgeous blue eyes?”

“What’s that you said about your roommate? Abs and a luscious V?”

My armpits prickled with excitement. “Shut. Up.”

“I’ve been told I look damn good in sweats too.”

I laughed, squeezing my thighs together. “Now you are bragging, you arrogant ass.”

“No brag, just fact. It’s what happens when you have the job I do.”

“Fuck, Wyatt. I thought we weren’t going down this road,” I said, my tone back to serious.

“It’s what we both wanted if things went well, and I’ll be honest…” the sounds in my ear went muffled as though he shifted to get comfortable, “we’re hitting it off better than anyone I’ve met on any dating app before.”

My smile returned, and I snuggled down beneath my blankets, more at peace than I’d expected after a first conversation. “I feel the same way.”

“Since we’re in agreement there—then just in case, I should let you know I always use condoms and test regularly.”
