Page 53 of Seeking Two Lovers

Blaine stared at me, his grin dissolving at the agonized look no amount of carefully feigned expressions instilled in me as a child could keep off my face. “Grey?”

I shook my head, unable to talk.

“Say something.”

What the fuck could I say? Definitely not that I was happy for him because that would be a goddamn lie. Telling him I hated whoever the fuck she was because she would take the one I’d loved forever from my side would ruin the friendship I’d made myself content with.

I tore my focus off my best friend’s steady gaze, my insides twisted and morphing…dying.

Lily walked in the front door.

She wore a strapless, tight-as-fuck red dress with lip gloss that matched.

My chest squeezed for a different reason, and I drank in the sight of her, breathing a bit easier. Where death from Blaine’s words had begun to create a zombie of my barely beating heart, she returned life.

Hope.

Her hair tumbled down in gentle waves over her bare shoulders. Heels with straps that wound up over her calves made her appear taller. Half of her thighs showed before the dress’s hem hit, skin golden and begging for love bites and hickeys.

She hadn’t noticed me or felt my stare, her gaze roaming over the people at the gigantic bar in the room’s center first.

“Grey?” Blaine’s voice pulled my focus off her feminine perfection. He still studied me, leaning onto the table, and I realized my face had changed from the crushed appearance mere moments before. “What?” he asked.

I cleared my throat, having no choice but to spew the truth. “She just walked in. The girl I wanted you to meet.”

Blaine turned his head, and breath held, I readied to drink in his expression as his eyes landed on Lily for the first time.

His face lit up—but with recognition. “Lily’s here,” he said.

Because I’d invited her…wait. Blaine hadn’t told me his girl’s name.

No. Fucking. Way.

I jerked my focus off my best friend for Lily.

She turned our way, catching my gaze.

Blaine’s.

Mine again.

Surprise widened her eyes, and my heart slammed inside my chest.

“She’s the girl you were telling me about?” I asked Blaine while holding Lily’s gaze and sounding like I’d swallowed jagged shards of glass.

“Yeah.” The happiness in his tone hadn’t faded one bit, the clueless fuck.

I tore my focus off Lily to find his eyes gleaming while staring at her. Pink flushed his face. “Blaine.”

He glanced at me quickly, and I swallowed hard. “She’s the girl I was with Thursday night. The one I asked to meet us here.”

His grin flatlined. He blinked, confusion furrowing his brow. “What?”

“Lily.”

“My Lily?”

Blaine saw her as his.
