I rested my cheek against his arm and closed my eyes. Contentment like I’d never expected flooded me with happiness. The trial was over. We were finally free from the shroud of bullshit to continue on with our lives.
Fear of losing Grey or Blaine had long since diminished, even when they loved on each other while I watched, and I rested in the knowledge they wanted me there.
Always.
Forever.
Enough time passed quietly in the SUV that I wondered why we hadn’t gotten to the Scotts’ home where we’d been staying.
I opened my eyes and watched the trees along the highway speed by. Shifting, I peered out the windshield. A sign let me know we headed toward Boston.
“Where are we going?” I asked, but Mr. Scott merely glanced at me in the rearview mirror.
“Grey?” I turned to find both my lovers looking at one another. Sharing their secrets. “What are you two up to?” I asked, sitting forward as far as my seatbelt would allow to better see their faces.
Grey caught my eye first. He grinned. “Do you trust me?”
One of my eyebrows raised as I truly considered his question. With my heart, yes. My emotions, absolutely. To not pull some sly plan to get what he wanted… “Sometimes?”
Blaine barked out a laugh and tugged me into his side. He kissed the top of my head. “We have a dinner date.”
“With?”
“An old friend of yours,” Grey said. “I made a few phone calls—”
“You and your taking charge,” I muttered, baffled as to what he’d set into motion.
“We’ve been invited to dine with Mr. and Mr. Sipe this evening.”
Levi.
My breath left in a rush. “What!” I squeaked, my eyes popping open, adrenaline rushing to my stuttering heart. He wouldn’t…
Fuck, he definitely would with how I’d explained the relationship Levi and I had and the extent we’d gone to sow some supposed wild oats. My boys knew I held no bitterness toward my ex and that we’d remained friends and spoke at least once a month.
Grey had also overheard me tell Boo that I missed him a few weeks earlier the last time he’d called.
Grey angled around Blaine and grinned at me. “We wanted to meet these old lovers of yours since you go on and on and on about them—”
I leaned forward to back hand him across Blaine’s chest. “I do not!” I choked on a laugh and glanced up at Blaine. “I don’t!”
He tipped his head back and forth as though weighing my adamant statement. “You kind of do.”
“You will not be all possessive and act like assholes!” I stated sternly—or tried to, rather, with how my insides shivered and shook. God knew my boys never behaved that way.
They laughed, and pure happiness swept through me.
“I can’t believe you did this.” My voice went all wobbly, and Grey reached around Blaine to cradle my cheek in his free hand.
“You really think we would bring you back east and leave without you seeing him?”
I knew he spoke of Levi. Zeke and I hadn’t ever been friends per se, but we’d become closer since they’d married, and Levi and I stayed in touch.
“We figured your finally being able to see the two of them together as happy as you are would bring one extra added layer of contentment in what the three of us share.”
As if I needed something more.
My eyes welled, and I let out another laugh while shaking my head at their thoughtfulness. “What sort of man insists on his woman spending time with an ex?”
