Her words rushed out, leaving me stunned and silent, dick officially checked out.

My face must have betrayed my disappointment in her announcement, because her smile faded.

“What?” she whispered.

“You seem…like you want to go back.”

Leave me, I couldn’t choke out.

“I do.” She smiled again, but her mouth wobbled. Taking my hand, she glanced at Grey. “I’m thankful for everything you’ve done for me, but I…I can’t stay out here, Blaine. I love my Frankie baby so much, and being away from him has been half of my depression.”

I’d figured it had been the hormones of the lost pregnancy and all the shit we’d endured that had kept her in tears.

What an asshole I’d been, not even considering how she would feel being separated from the man she loved. I couldn’t imagine those miles keeping me from Grey—or Lily which had been agony enough with one town between us.

“He asked his grandparents if I could move in too, and they agreed. I know I just got here, Blaine, but I really miss him.”

I nodded, hating that wetness filled her eyes for what seemed like the hundredth time in seven days.

“And with the upcoming trial, it would be best for me to be nearby,” she added.

As Quell’s supposed wife, Sarah had indeed been privy to a shit ton of information. While the graves had been a surprise to her, the fact they existed didn’t. Too many people had pissed off Quell over the years and disappeared.

Including his first wife.

“I want you to be happy, little sis, and if that’s being with Franklin, then I won’t stand in your way,” I managed to get out past the lump in my throat. Complicated emotions once more took over my brain. Longing for a renewed relationship with my little sister I’d just gotten back in my life and want for her to find her fairy tale ending like I’d done with Grey and Lily.

“Frankie does make me happy. I miss him so damn much—just like you miss Lily.”

My brow furrowed, and Sarah let out a soft laugh while drying her eyes. “Seriously, Blaine? You and Grey have been miserable since she left. Neither of you have said a damn word about her absence, but I’m calling bullshit if you even think about denying the truth in front of me.”

Grey turned to lean against the sink, drying his hands. He eyed my sister. “I didn’t want to overcrowd you.”

“As if one more person here in this massive house would make a difference,” Sarah huffed out her opinion.

Grey gave me his full attention. “I didn’t ask her to visit because I thought you would need time.”

“Well, maybe you should have opened your mouth and communicated instead of assuming,” Sarah told him with a saucy tilt to her head.

Lips tight, I grabbed up my cell and swiped the screen to life.

“What are you doing?” Sarah asked me with a teasing tone.

“Telling our girlfriend to get her fine ass over here where she belongs.”

“Thank God!” Sarah slapped her palms onto the table. “You two men have been miserable messes without her.”

Lily immediately texted back a heart-eyed emoji and Be there in an hour!

I grinned, feeling as though oxygen freely filled my lungs for the first time all week.

“Soooo…”

I gave Sarah my attention at her drawn-out word. Pink once more flushed her face.

“I’m going to be taking a nice long bubble bath tonight with a glass of that white wine you introduced me to and enjoying those chocolate mint candies Lily had stockpiled for me. And did I gush about that new, delicious book I started this morning? Don’t plan on laying eyes on me the rest of the night.” She slid off her stool and ambled toward the stairs. “Tell Lily I said hello, and I’ll see you all in the morning!”

Grey and I caught each other’s gazes.
