Miles
We made it two steps into Rylee’s hotel room before I lost all control and kissed her. She kissed me back, the intensity between us building. Then suddenly it was over.
“Are you okay?” I ask Rylee when she breaks the kiss. We’re nose-to-nose, our breathing still heavy. She’s completely unreadable, which is unusual for her.
“Yes and no,” she murmurs. “I know what I want. I’m just not sure it’s the smart thing to do.”
I try to take in what she’s saying. “Tell me why.”
She pauses for a second and I can see that she’s trying to find the words. The room goes quiet while I wait for her to answer. “Because you’re you and I’m me and I’m scared to get hurt.”
I put my hand on her jaw, cupping her face. I can’t stop touching her. I think I know what she’s getting at, but I need to be sure. “Whatever you’re thinking, whatever doubts you have about the way I feel about you… it’s all in your head, Rylee. I can promise you that.”
“Miles, I guess I’m just not sure what you see in a girl like me. There’s nothing glamorous about me or my life.”
“You really don’t get it, do you?” I say. “My life is crazy and chaotic and there’s always someone who wants a piece of me. When I’m with you, all of the noise quiets. I forget about it all.” My hand travels from her jaw down her neck. “And when we kiss, it feels like magic and fireworks and nothing I’ve ever felt before and I don’t want to stop. I like being with you. It’s as simple as that.”
Looking at her, I realize that simple may have been the wrong word to use. There is nothing simple about the way I feel about her.
“Miles, I had no idea you felt that way. I’m... it’s sweet.” I can see some of the conflict in her eyes dissolve but she’s still not there.
“Look, Rylee. The feelings I have for you won’t go away. I can’t stop wanting you. Since the day I met you – since the moment I laid eyes on you – I’ve wanted to be near you. I want to spend every second I can with you. I will always be honest with you and I promise I won’t hurt you.”
“This feels like a risk.”
“It’s a risk I’m hoping you take.”
The worried crease between her eyebrows eases and I finally feel the last of the tension leave her body. Her long, dark eyelashes flutter closed for a second and when they open, she half smiles. I drink her in. She’s beautiful.
Then I kiss her, without warning, pressing my mouth to hers. My heart rate is over the legal limit when she groans into my mouth, her hands sliding down the length of my body.
“I want you more than I’ve ever wanted anything.” The confession slips from my mouth, surprising me. But there’s no way I’m taking it back. I mean every word.
She lets out a small breath but doesn’t say anything. Instead, her gaze holds mine with an intensity that feels like an electrical current right to my core. The way she’s looking at me tells me she feels the exact same way as I do. The back of my neck tingles as blood rushes to my dick.
I lean in, kissing her, showing her that I don’t want to wait another day to have her. “Miles,” she whispers my name.
“Dammit, Rylee. Tell me you want this too,” I say, pressing my forehead against hers, closing my eyes, breathing her in. “I’ve been fantasizing about you since that day I first saw you outside of Violet’s trailer. You are all I think about.”
“You have?” she asks. I open my eyes to find her staring at me so intently I can see the flecks of gold in her bright green irises.
“Very much so.” All I want to do is kiss her, but I hold off, waiting for her to say the words. “But if you’re not ready…if you want to wait. We will.”
Her hands softly travel down my chest. We are so close to each other I swear I can hear the beating of her heart. “Miles,” she whispers. “I’m ready. More than anything. I want you more than-“
I don’t even let her finish the words I am aching to hear. I can’t wait another second.
This is happening.
My mouth finds hers and my tongue sweeps inside, slowly and smoothly tangling with hers. Her lips are so soft, and they feel so good pressed up against mine. She whimpers into the kiss, running her fingers through my hair and gripping the back of my head like she wants to hold me there. I wouldn’t end this even if the hotel was on fire.
She angles her head and I take the opportunity to deepen the kiss. It feels incredible, our tongues teasing each other ferociously. A bolt of lightning flashes through me when her pelvis puts a little pressure on the bulge behind my zipper. Every inch of me is hyper aware of her warm body pressed against mine. I’m high on her, my senses woozy as my tongue flicks against hers. I hear myself moan into the kiss, my body humming and aching to be skin-on-skin with her as soon as fucking possible.
Her fists tighten around the back of my neck, making me even harder. We’re talking concrete hard. I wrap my arms around her waist, hauling her into me even closer, gripping her hips in my hands. The beachy scent of her skin is doing crazy things to my senses. I feel dizzy, drunk on her, buzzing with lust.
We keep kissing like we have all the time in the world, sucking and nipping each other’s tongues. When I finally pull back from the kiss, I draw her bottom lip between mine, sucking gently. She tastes sweet, intoxicating.
“Can I take this off, Ryls?” I ask, my fingers playing with the edge of her T-shirt.
