David stands next to me. “Find out who the girl is with her. They came together,” I say, taking a drink from him.
“Already on it. I would say she’s a bit young for you, but you’re still not taking your eyes off the door... so this might be more than a one-night thing.”
It will most certainly be more than a one-night thing. I’ve never been the chaser before, but I’m ready for the challenge.
Chapter Three
Saylor
“Do you know who that was?” Anika’s voice is all excited, like she has just won the jackpot to the best prize in the house.
“Haven’t a clue,” I reply, getting in the taxi, still thinking of who he may be. There was something about him that pulled me to him. Something in his eyes that grabbed me and didn’t want to let go. It might have been the colour of his eyes, as I’ve never seen anything like them before; a smokey grey shade. And he had the sexiest stubble too. Oh, how a man looks sexy with a morning shadow like stubble. Gets me every time. I made it obvious I was checking him out, but I don't care. That was one time I wish I could see what was under his clothes. He’s tall, built, and when he grabbed my waist, I felt his strength, and damn, is he strong.
“I’m texting Jason. That, my sweet Saylor, was Aiden Kane-”
“Your boss?” I turn to face her as she sends Jason a message.
The guy grabbing my attention is her boss. I always thought he was this old wrinkled-up geriatric, not a hot as sin man like that.
“Yes, my boss, and he likes you.” I shake my head at her. “Okay, Jason said I can’t ask you anything until we get home.” Anika looks down at her phone, typing something back to him.
Not replying to her, I look out the window, as I think about how close Aiden got to me, his hot air tickling my skin. I can still feel him, his touch on me.
We get home, and I’m so happy Anika said she wanted to leave as she wasn’t feeling too well. I’m not happy about her not feeling well but because I don’t know if I would be able to stay away from him.
“So Aiden Kane, thirty-five, self-made millionaire, founder and CEO of Big Kane App, never been married, and is in the top ten bachelors in England.” I hear Jason shouting as I walk to the kitchen to get some more wine. I mean, let me at least take off my fucking shoes.
“Not sure why you think I care.” Sitting down next to him, he turns the laptop to face me so I can look at his web page. I roll my eyes at him when I see picture after picture of him at events, or just out shopping. Do the press not have anything better to write about?
“He’s tall, sexy, and I’m going to assume he has a hot body under his clothes. And let’s not forget, he’s rich and interested in you. That’s why you should care.” Grabbing my wineglass from me, Jason looks through the plethora of google images of him. My eyes move to the screen a few times as I check out the images of Aiden. He’s never with a girl either.
“He was all over you, and I want to know what he said to you,” Anika asks, putting her empty glass in front of me to pour some more wine in for herself.
“Me too,” Jason shouts.
“Nothing really. He likes my ass and asked if I would go to dinner. Oh, and I passed with an A when he was checking me out.” I raise my glass to her and smile.
“He said that?” Jason’s mouth hangs wide open, staring at me, like he's watching a drama on the TV.
“Yes, he said that.” I take a sip of my wine, “Anyway, you still helping us pack tomorrow and Sunday?” I ask him, as he always has some reason why he can’t help us. He’s never been a heavy lifter.
“Of course.” Anika and I look at him with a questionable look. “I’m the labeller and drink provider. I can’t let you go thirsty, now can I?”
I can’t help but laugh, because only Jason would think like that. I want everything packed by the weekend so we can get settled in by next weekend, and I can bring Hayley over.
“Back to Aiden Kane-”
“Nothing to go back to. He flirted, and I played along, and now I won’t have to see him again,” I tell them both with a shrug.
Well, I might see him again in my dreams tonight, just to get it out of my system.
* * *
We spent the afternoon packing upstairs. I wanted to start early, but I needed Jason to help me with Hayley. I got a phone call from the airport saying that she was trying to get on a flight to America because she has a show to get to. When I got there, she was screaming at the security guide, and it was the worst thing I think she has done in a long time. Sometimes I can handle my sister, but other times, I just want to hide away and be alone. I think that’s why I started yoga. To find a peaceful place to lose myself for a moment, a place where I can feel like I’m not going crazy.
I love my sister, and I won’t let anything happen to her, but some days, I feel like I’m losing a battle with her, and thoughts like that cause me to break down. I cry to let it all out, and that’s when Anika and Jason come in to pick me back up and help me find my way back to being me again.
I had to convince her that I was her PA and Jason was her manager before she agreed to leave the airport. Hayley refused to come back to my house, and no matter what I said to her, it wasn't going to change her mind. I told her that she needed to take her medicine before I left, which started a whole different fight.
