“Yeah, because you don’t know how to cook,” Jason tells us and starts eating his food.

I place my hand on Saylor’s thigh, and she looks over at her sister sitting next to her, then she shakes her head, looking over at Anika and Jason who return a smile. Something is wrong, but I’m the only one who doesn’t know what's happening.

Saylor leans closer to me, and whispers, “I’m sorry.” Before I can ask what is happening, her sister starts talking.

“What is this, don’t you know how to make food?” Hayley pushes the plate away.

“Well, mother, if you don’t want to eat, don’t. I really don’t care,” Saylor replies and begins eating her food.

“That’s what you want, isn't it? For me to die-”

“Please stop talking. I have a headache-”

“Did you go out drinking again?” Hayley cuts her off, and I look over at Lee who’s quietly eating his food. I had told him about Hayley, and he witnessed some of it too while he went to see Saylor, so they both knew things like this could happen.

“Oh, I wish,” Saylor whispers to herself, continuing to enjoy her meal. “Zhi, this is amazing, is it a Chinese recipe?” she asks, ignoring her sister's comments.

“It is, my mum used to make it for me all the time,” she replies, and Anika and Jason tell her they are enjoying it too.

“So grown-up of your Saylor, ignoring your mother.” Hayley pushes her plate further away, and Saylor continues to eat her food and keep on with the conversation with everyone.

“Aiden, what was David calling about?” Lee asks, trying to break the tension around the table. I look over at Jason, as he is the only one in the room I don’t trust, or hasn’t signed a contract.

“What? You think I will say anything, you must be crazy,” Jason quickly replies, looking over at Saylor at the same time, making her laugh.

“If anyone is going to talk, it’s this one.” Saylor points to her sister, and I give her a smile, already knowing that, but I didn’t want to say anything.

“Nothing much, just need to find people to test the app for three months, and we have the staff working on it.” I look over at Anika when she widens her eyes in shock.

“Mr-”

“I’m not at work, so Aiden,” I cut her off.

“Aiden. I love the app, the whole idea of it, but I’m not Saylor, I don’t care for my fitness.” Saylor starts laughing, and I press my lips together not to smile at the sound of her laughing again.

“We will talk about that at work, plus, we have to find some fitness influencers to take part in it for us too.” I look over at Lee who is nodding, and he looks over at Zhi.

“I can do it.” I turn to Saylor taking a mouthful of her food.

“No.”

“You didn’t even think about it. And why not, I like to stay fit, and my diet-”

“No, so stop asking.” I can feel her eyes burning into my skin, but I roll my eyes at him and continue my meal. “I don’t know anything about how this plan is going to work, Saylor. It could make you sick, or you could-” I stop and I turn to face her. “Saylor, I don’t know what-”

“She needs to learn to keep her legs shut, and not be sleeping with two men.” I look over Saylor's shoulder at her sister, who seems to be back to making Saylor feel like crap. My eyes move to Anika when she mixes something in the water.

“Mum, I think you need to shut up before-”

“Before you hit me again?” Hayley snaps at her, and I take Saylor’s hand in mine. I want her to know that she’s not alone in this. I’m here no matter what.

Chapter EIghteen

Saylor

I watch Aiden’s thumb rubbing the palm of my hand, calming me down from my sister having one of her personalities overtake her. I knew it was going to happen, and I needed it to happen in front of Aiden so he knew what living with me is really like. It’s not always this bad, sometimes I will have my sister more times in the month than anyone else, but since my dad, her head has been all over the place. I have to admit, on top of being pregnant, I’m so tired.

I don’t know if Aiden is really okay with what's happening, but the look on Zhi’s face tells me she can’t handle it much longer.
