“Are you sure?”

“I’m sure, so tell me about your day?” Aiden starts rubbing my thighs as I look over my shoulder again.

“Stressful, so what’s been keeping you awake, as it’s not been me?” I can’t help but smile as he starts laughing. I glance at my watch, making Aiden take my hand in his, his thumb gently stroking my knuckles.

“Your dad will call, and I don’t really want to talk about work, I normally-”

“I know, I know. You only talk to David, and your brother,” I cut him off. I get that he wants to keep things close to him. I know that he wants to protect his business, but I have too much shit happening in my life to even think about messing someone else's life up.

“I do, and that’s not because I don’t trust you, it’s because there is so much happening at the moment, and I need to sort so much out. A lot of fucked up things happened in the last two days… I don’t even know where to even begin.” Aiden stops and grabs his phone, tapping away.

“I hope it’s nothing too serious. You’ve been on the phone all night.” I climb off Aiden and grab my laptop, bringing it over to the bed with me, then sit back on top of Aiden.

“I’m about to tell you something about my company that only Lee and David know. Anika probably told you about losing money-”

“You lost close to a million. I think that came up in conversation.” I start laughing. How does he think that wouldn’t be mentioned.

“Well, little miss funny, I’ve just learned that my whole system got hacked and made my apps go free. So I’ve been working on trying to fix all that, which has been very stressful, and David is just giving me an update.”

“At eleven at night?”

Aiden starts laughing. “From everything I’ve just said, that’s what you’re taking from this?”

“No, I heard what you said. And it’s messed up, but it's eleven in the evening.”

“He will go to sleep and not worry about it until the morning, when I call him,” he tells me as he throws his phone back on the bed.

“That’s because you worry enough for both of you.” Leaning down to give him a kiss, I run my fingers through his hair, and Aiden’s hands move along my back. “Maybe you need to worry less.”

“I do when I’m with you.” Aiden’s hand slides up to my neck, his thumb moving along my jawline. “Saylor, he will call.”

My worry must be showing on my face, the tension in my body, more than I thought. Closing my eyes for a moment, I deep breath in, and as I open my eyes, I give him a smile.

“That fake smile might work with some, but not so much on me. Tell me about your dad.”

“What’s there to say… he's my dad, my best friend.” My dad is so much more than that; he’s my world, and he might be the only man that will ever make me happy, so when that day comes, and I get married, that man has big shoes to fill.

“I’m going to say, more than your best friend. Siblings? Mum?”

“As far as I’m concerned, my mum is dead. She left this family when we needed her the most, but she was a coward and ran away from her responsibilities. I have a younger sister.” I didn’t want to really tell him about my family but how much can I really hide from him, when he's here. If my sister is having a meltdown, and he’s here, how am I meant to hide it?

“Where is your sister?” Aiden’s eyes stay locked with mine, and the only thing that he will see in them is hate for my mother, and nothing else. Rubbing my legs, his soft fingertips gently make small circles.

“Hayley is around, pops up when she wants, leaves when she wants,” I say with a small chuckle escaping my lips. “Don’t get too serious with me, my family is crazy.” I have to laugh, as there is so much truth with my statement. He has no idea, and I don’t plan on him finding out for a while either.

Aiden goes to say something but stops when my laptop starts beeping. I quickly get off Aiden and answer the call. The moment I see him, my eyes fill up with water.

“Hello, sweet pea, I told you not to worry.” I give him a smile, or a small smile as I wipe my tears. “You too tired to talk?”

“Never too tired to talk to you.” I look over at Aiden for a moment. I might not be too tired, but he's been up all night too. He gives me a nod, though, and I look back over at my dad.

“Do I get to meet him?” My Dad looks at me, and I just stare back at him. I don’t think I’m ready to introduce them to each other, but I also know that my dad will not stop until he knows everything about him.

Turning to Aiden to make sure that he’s okay with it, he turns the laptop so that he is on the screen with me. “Dad, this is Aiden. Aiden, this is my dad.”

“Nice to meet you, sir,” Aiden says.

“Don’t hurt my girl.”
