“Nothing at the moment, but back home, I’m a doctor.” Lee glances over to Aiden. “What are you making?”
“Chicken and pasta-”
“The famous chicken and pasta?” Lee questions, and when Aiden doesn’t reply to him, Lee smiles. “Well, Saylor, it was lovely meeting you, and I know I will be seeing you again. Aiden, I will call you tomorrow.”
“I have a few meetings, so I will call you, and tell Zhi I said hello.” Aiden tells him, they both say their goodbyes, and I move to the side to grab the wine bottle.
I fill two glasses for us and walk back over to Aiden as he closes the laptop. “So famous chicken and pasta?”
“I only make it for special people,” he says, taking the glass from me.
A warmth runs through me… I’m special.
“I hope your time away was okay.”
“It was. I had to go see my grandma.” I stir the chicken as Aiden works on the pasta.
I walk over to the window to look out at the garden. Aiden wraps his arms from behind me, kissing the side of my neck. “I just wanted to let you know that when you want to talk about anything, I’m here.” Aiden's voice comes out soft, almost like he knows I have the weight of the world on my shoulders and he doesn’t want to push me into telling him, but wants me to be there for me in any way he can.
I lean back into him. “I was thinking about that fundraiser. I would love to come.”
“I’m going to say it’s going to be an interesting night, so how much are you planning on teasing me?” I feel the vibration from Aiden laughing. “Just know one thing, if you get me hard, I will fuck you there.”
Now that makes me laugh. I have a man that makes me smile, makes me happy, and makes me believe that anything can happen. I’m finally happy, I’m falling in love with him, and I’m not ready to have my heart broken. If he doesn’t get my situation with Hayley, and he walks away, I will be heartbroken, and I’m not ready for that yet.
Chapter Twelve
Aiden
My week with Saylor has been amazing. We’ve been waking up together, having breakfast, and then we both head out to work. She’s been at mine three out of the four days, and I’ve loved having her there with me. If I could, I would have her there every day.
She had told me early in the week that I wasn’t going to see her last night, and that she will be ready tonight for the event. I got a dress delivered for her today, and the moment I saw it, I knew that it was perfect for her. Just thinking about how it will look on her, I was already hard.
I’ve been slowly getting deeper with Saylor, I have no idea what it is about her, but she seems to understand me. She knows what I’m thinking before I say the words. I get to talk to her about work, the app, and she will tell me if something sucks. She’s not scared to call me on my shit. Saylor is there for me, not interested in my money or the fancy parties I can take her too; she’s with me because she wants me.
“What’s the plan?” David asks as we walk into the restaurant to meet Frankie.
He wanted the meeting in my office, and I’m not that stupid to let him near my workspace. I know he has something planned, and I’m not taking the risk.
“I don’t have one,” I reply as I see Frankie at the table with three other men. “Mr. Fair.” I shake his hand as he introduces me to the other men. His lawyer and two members from his hack team. Now why would he bring someone from the hack team to meet me? Good thing I told David to leave his phone in the car. Like I said, I don’t trust this meeting.
“Now, Mr. Fair, if I knew I needed a lawyer, I would have brought mine.”
I hear the nervousness in his laugh. “Of course not, Mr. Kane, this is just a friendly chat.”
As the waiter comes to the table, we give him our drink orders, and I tell him that I don’t want anything to eat. I put my hand in my pocket and press record on the recording device.
“I think word has gone around that my system got-”
“Are you pointing the finger at Mr. Fair of something?” his lawyer cuts me off.
“Should I be?” I turn back to Frankie. “I’ve never been scared or worried about what my competition is doing, and I’m not now, but someone is messing with my business and I’m not liking it,” I tell him, and no one says anything as the waiter places our drinks in front of us.
“Now, Mr. Kane, I promise you that I know my app will be the app of this year this time round, and you will fall.” I drink my coffee as his lawyer puts his hand on Frankie’s arm to stop him from saying any more. What was he about to say that his lawyer was worried about?
“What makes your app so special?” David asks, and I have to stop myself from laughing. Why David thinks that Frankie is going to just tell us what he is working on is beyond me.
“All I’m saying is that everyone wants to keep healthy.” Frankie throws some money on the table and stands, but David and I stay seated. Frankie watches his team walking away, then waits until they are far enough so they can’t hear what he is saying. “It’s time for a new man to take over, so be careful who you trust. You never know who’s working for who.”
