Muscled thighs dropped into view before strong fingers curled under her chin and lifted her head. Flea let her gaze stroke over the powerful male before her as he gave her no other choice but to meet his eyes.
“I’m here, Flea. I’ll keep you safe. You can relax.”
Moisture gathered along her bottom lids, leaving her vision wavering. Gra’ar was nothing more than a dark shadow, the light of the candle dancing behind him and glinting from his golden eyes.
“I can’t.”
Her broken whisper almost released a sob, but she fought it back. Large arms wrapped around her, pulling her against a broad chest that vibrated with a soothing purr. She held herself stiff as long as she could before the noise soaked in and forced her muscles to unclench. Tucking her nose into the hollow of his throat, she sucked in the alpha’s scent as her mind calmed.
“Give me your trust, Flea. Allow me to protect you while you give in and do what your heart desires. There’s nothing to fear in this room.”
His low voice wove with the purr, sinking into her and loosening the band around her lungs.
She wanted to make a nest. She wanted to create the best one this alpha had ever seen and invite him into it.
But she didn’t know how.
And she didn’t know how to give in.
“Help me?”
She raised her head and looked up at him, staring into dark pits that warred with golden rings. She could feel his erection against her leg, his body still responding to the call of hers even as slick and their fluids coated her thighs, but he was restraining himself.
He gave a slow nod, loosening his hold as she shifted to move off him. Resting on his heels he was still almost as tall as her when she stood, and her lips tipped up in the corner as she reached out to smooth his hair off his horns. For all that he looked like a monster, he had the heart of something better.
Gra’ar gathered the pillows as she turned to the blankets and shook them out. He moved to the corner so he wouldn’t be in the way, but there still wasn’t much room.
Flea shrugged the concern away. She didn’t need a ton of space for the two of them.
Laying down the heavy blanket first to add a little cushion to the floor, she crawled to the center of it and smoothed out the wrinkles. Turning to the lurking alpha, she held her hand out for a pillow, shaking her head at the first he offered before accepting the one he’d slept on. It held his scent, and she buried her face in it to suck it in before putting it where she planned to rest.
She didn’t have a lot to work with, but by the time Gra’ar handed her the last pillow and she tucked it into place before covering the makeshift nest with the light sheet he’d had draped over them, she was satisfied. Sitting up on her knees, she let a smile spread across her face as she surveyed her first nest, something deep in her chest giving a content hum.
She’d had mild cramps as she worked but with the distraction gone, the next tore a gasp from her. Clutching her belly, she moved her gaze to Gra’ar, seeing an answering need on his face. Wriggling down into the opening she’d left for herself, Flea laid on her back and spread her legs, holding her hands out to the alpha still waiting in the corner.
He seemed to hesitate a moment before carefully stepping closer. Moving to his hands and knees, he crawled over her, stopping to help her get the sheet over his wings before letting his weight settle atop her.
“What do you need, omega?”
His hands stroked the sides of her face, the husky question making her nipples pebble and her core clench. She couldn’t see the gold of his eyes under the blanket, but she could feel his gaze tracing the lines of her features.
“You, alpha. I need you to fill me.”
Her response had him rumbling, his head dropping to her neck to kiss along the sensitive flesh to her ear. Teeth taking over to nibble the shell, his hands stroked everywhere he could reach.
While her body still burned, it was no longer the inferno it had become before he first knotted her. The feeling had mellowed to an almost comfortable warmth that spread through her limbs.
Gra’ar gripped her thigh, hooking it around his hip as she lifted the other to do the same. His hand dipped between them, finding her folds and teasing the little bud at the top. Breathy sounds escaped her as he tested her readiness before lining himself up with her entrance.
She still felt the stretch as he sank inside, but it was easier this time. He went slow but didn’t encounter the same resistance he’d met before, hilting himself in one smooth move that had him groaning against her neck.
“You’re perfect.”
He spoke so quietly she almost missed the words, a bloom of pleasure spreading from her chest. She’d been called many things in her life, and perfect had never been one of them, but he said it with such conviction there was no room to doubt he meant it.
Flea blinked back the sudden sting of tears as she moved her hands to his face, pulling him to her lips. The ridges under her palms were hard, but like the alpha himself, there was still a touch of give to them. A softness that couldn’t be seen when just looking at him.
They moved together in her little nest, motions and kisses growing more urgent as the tension built inside. He didn’t drive her to the edge and force her over as he had done before. He brought her there in increments, working slowly to build her up to a crescendo that eclipsed the previous ones.
