“You’ve got so much money!” I blurt out of desperation. “You can buy everything right now and get it delivered by tomorrow. I’m sure if you asked Caleb, he’d get you the server access you need within the hour.”
An amused grin spreads over his luscious lips. “Any other omega would want to use the money to buy more clothes and jewelry,” he says with a chuckle. Leaning forward, he knocks on my forehead. “You’re such an odd one.”
“Ugh,” I mutter darkly. “I hate being an omega. It’s the only reason I couldn’t kick Callahan in the nuts for touching me.”
A fond look comes over him as he chuckles. “I’ve missed you like crazy, you know that?”
“Me too,” I say as a smile bubbles onto my lips.
“You want to know about your real parents,” he says, looking thoughtful. “Mine were real assholes, so I never went looking for them again.”
“I want to know what happened to them and how Callahan was involved with them,” I say slowly. “His obsession stems from the time my mother was alive. He’s transferring all those fucked-up feelings onto me. I want to know if he’s the reason my parents are dead.”
“Start eating,” he says, taking a sip of his coffee. “In the meantime, I’ll play with all that money I have lying around.” He chuckles to himself as if what I said earlier was extremely hilarious.
Taking his phone, he gets busy, so I pick up my plate of pancakes and get started on my breakfast.
Shit, this is good, I think, chewing through a mound of buttery, soft pancakes that are soaked with syrup. Next, I go for the bacon that’s perfectly salty, meaty, and crispy.
The food energizes me, bringing back my zeal to tackle every problem that’s been thrown my way. One by one, I will overcome every obstacle and destroy the man who’d dared to hurt the people I love the most.

Caleb
My long coat flutters in the cold breeze as I hurry toward the front entrance of the mansion. The vast grounds of our estate look deserted at this late hour but despite appearances, a surveillance team is monitoring every corner of the property.
The attack on our home has alerted every military pack in the country. Their leaders are as busy as me, securing their perimeters against the possibility of an attack as brutal as the one we sustained.
Every leader is requesting a meeting with me, either in person or online. They want every detail of the attack we faced. Everyone’s obsessed with trying to find a motive that led the Black Widow to particularly attack us.
I’d been as clueless as everyone else until Iris revealed the truth last night.
Nox CallahanisBlack Widow, Iris’s words run through my mind.
My brothers and I had been sure we’d destroyed their organization three years ago. There hadn’t been any incidents to make us believe they were still active.
While the rest of the world breathed easy, Callahan rebuilt what we destroyed. He’d have continued strengthening his power but Iris’s appearance shook him up.
Obsessed with possessing her, he unleashed his shadow army at the mayor’s residence. When he failed to capture her during the chaos, he attacked our home.
He almost succeeded in snatching her away from us.
It was a stroke of luck on our part that we gifted Iris the bracelet at the right moment. The tracking chip we embedded inside it was the only reason we could find her in time.
An icy chill slithers down my spine each time I think about how close we’d been to losing her forever. She’d been naked and sprawled on the bed when I found her. Callahan towered over her, almost ready to bite her neck and impale her with his cock.
A shuddering breath leaves my lips.
We narrowly managed to rescue her but the threat isn’t over yet.
Callahan is still out there, planning his next move.
We can’t attack him despite knowing who he really is. His superior rank keeps him out of our reach. We can run neither run an investigation on him nor get his properties searched without presenting sufficient proof against him.
“Fucking bastard,” I mutter as another gust of cold wind blows past me.
Pushing open the door to the house, I walk inside the wide passageway that leads into the entrance hall.
